Troubleshooting a DAT D-07

Vintage Pioneer Enthusiast
Hi all. Looking for a bit of help or advice. I run vintage Pioneer gear and recently came into possession of an amazing DAT collection of live performaces and rehersal sessions. So I picked up Pioneer D-07 DAT deck. It was built for the Japan market so I'm using a step down transformer.

I am using the rca analog out into an AUX channel. Tape loads and responds to the buttons (play, ff, rew) but I have no audio. There is no reading on the integrated DB meters and I get nothing from the primary speakers nor from the headphone jack.

I'm assuming it needs a repair, possibly a full recap and belt service but wanted to check here to make sure I'm not overlooking something obvious. There is a digital on/off switch for the digital in/out channels and I have that to off.

Any suggestions or nnyone you'd recommend to service this type of unit? Thanks in advance!

Thank you. I've taken your advice and done that. Thanks for the link. Same result but appreciate the response nonetheless.

Now you need an oscilloscope to look at the RF waveform coming off the head amp. 60MHz bandwidth minimum.
