i found this little beauty at an estate sale for 20 bucks and had to grab it. i love the wood veneer and the "feathertouch" controls. and an added plus, it has an Empire 2000 E/III Cartridge. anyone have any more info on it?

I believe it is pretty much identical (other than the addition of auto-lift) to a GA-212, which is a great little 'table for the money.

I always liked the looks and feel of those turntables. Matter of fact, the library in the town I grew up in had about 6 of those very TT's back in the day. I'd listen to some LP's they had thru headphones for hours on end.

I just scored one at the local Goodwill this past week for 15 bucks. Very happy with it thus far. I'm going to get a new cartridge for it even though the one that's on (Orto TM20) it is in pretty good shape.

I envy you. The 2 TT's I regret selling most were my GA-212 and a Micro-Seiki DQX-500 (temporary insanity on that one).

I liked my 312 so much that when the first one developed some wiring "issues" on the cusp of the introduction of the CD, I let it go. Not my best decision. Ended up buying another one maybe 12 years later and enjoyed it for many years until I had the chance to move up to a mid-level Pro-Ject. The Pro-Ject sounds great, but I still miss the 312 as an :sigh:.

Nice score!

Cleaning the TT

Does anyone have an idea how to try and buff out any scratches that are on the base of the TT, well, the light base under the platter? Thaks.

Lovely. They are said to sound good. At least the servo belt drive control system is a good foundation.
