on siemens

most siemens E88CC and E188CC have an id tag with 2 or 3 pairs of characters. i dont recall if the ECC88 typucally use the tags. by tag i mean a small metal tag attached to the getter structure. the siemens munich sumbol is an equal sign with a vertical slash thru it. if the tube has a 6 character code and is siemens, the code with have the equal aign character. the 4-character codes dont have it.

for both 4- and 6- character codes the first two character gove the tube type A_ for E88CC, G_ for E188CC. i cant remember the code character for ECC88.

feel free to post multiple clear photos with out glare individual tube for further identification.

Metal #tags were attached on Tungsram tubes. Siemens too ?
Aren't all UK + Euro tubes with four characters from the 1950s ? Five or six characters would be 1960s, right ?

yep--2 characters. seems the higher up on the tube the newer production.

some tube types--eg E88CC, E188CC, perhaps others.

not necessarily. IIRC (which i may not), later period siemens tags are 4 characters early ones are 6.

im not sure how that works, but, fthe philips family of manufacturers and many licensed by philips used 2 lines of 3 characters in the 50s, 60s and 70s. ive seen one line of 4 characters but i cant recall the year. ive also seen 50s tubes with 5 characters, a line of 3 and a line of 2.
