Tube Experts, Are these RCA Black Plates?

Hiya,

Would be also kinda handy to take pictures of these against a Black and then White background.

When I get some clutter cleared I might take a few of my lineup of motley suspects.

You need coolin', baby, I'm not foolin',
I'm gonna send you back to schoolin',
Way down inside.

This and the other Tung Sol thread has me thoroughly confused now. All I see is gray on those Westinghouse tubes save the top plates above the mica. And those Tung Sols looked like gray plates to me. Me eyes must be going bad.

Those are grey. The only black ones are the RCAs.

Ah! Please note those large radiator plates on the G1 pins that I have mentioned before, and compare to other 6L6s.

The 6L6 along with many other tubes with the black plate, grey plate deviances, In fact do have extremes of quality….
It’s just a matter that the black or grey plate, anode alloys play a major scientific roll………..

Conductivity of the anode relies upon the optimum conductivity based on the combined metallic alloy within X-math particle
geometry, to a said voltage output, which is based on a metallic alloy composition.

I just bought this amp but don't have it in my procession yet. It has RCA 6L6 tubes in it. I was wondering if these where Black Plates.:scratch2:

They look like Gold and White plates to me...

Seriously though, I would say they are Black Plates.

God, now i'm going to have to go thru all my unused 6L6's and grade them as to black or gray or darker gray oh **** I need a drink now.

Think if some 6L6 whatever were running hard and hot in an amp and somebody kept banging on them ( not hard enough to break or unseat them ) they would turn into red plate B4 something broke inside :D

That being said I had a 2 ch 6L6 p/p amp with 5U4 rect. and 12AX7 gain stages and phase inverter IIRC way back in the stone age when you could buy a Fisher 500C new the thing was decent ! Some of the Juke boxes used them on p/p mono and stereo configurations also.

Not sure what's so funny. I didn't say only RCA made black-plate tubes, I said that of the tubes pictured so far, only the RCAs were black-plate, and the others were grey.

Not laughing at you Sam. Just laughing at the way this whole thread has turned out. Is it black? No there gray. Are they gray? No there black. :headscrat :D

Some of them are black ,some of them are grey some them are not exactly black and some them are not exactly grey and some of them are not exactly in between grey and black and some of them aren't exactly in between black and grey and so on .........:D
