This is all fantastic information, thanks for sharing!! While it seems I'm learning a lot, I have this funny feeling like I've only scratched the surface.
On that note, has anyone created a thread on AK which goes into detail on how to determine tube manufacturers by the tube markings/labels? Or is this that thread?

That makes sense, they are nickel plated ECC82's, I had assumed they were just relabeled.
ive seen spanish tubes of most common small signal types. there are spanish nickel plate 12AX7, 12AU7 that are of near identical construction to french nickel plate
