Tubed stereo adapters ?

Popular in the early 60s - brands such as KLH model 13 and Scott had a nice one, but these were transistorized.

Any decent tubed examples from the late 50s, early 60s ?

The kit was a brown faceplate and the factory assembled version was the usual HH Scott gold anodized aluminum. The faceplates of Scott equipment is very fragile and it is difficult to find one that is in good condition.

Fisher had the WX and MPX-65 drop in boards, and the MPX-100 and MPX-200 external decoders. There was also the MPX-10 for one of the failed FM stereo competitors.

S/C had a cool tubed unit, as did Eico, as Mark already mentioned.

I've never heard of a tube S/C multiplex decoder, just the solid-state unit.

I'll see if I can dig it out Sam. IIRC it came with a Tiny little SC FM dial tuner (maybe 7 inches wide), which came with a 433. It was a customer of mine's college rig, and he gave it to me when he found out I was into tubes. Too bad he hadn't saved the TV he built as part of his schooling in electronics after he returned from Vietnam. I did get his Bell and Howell Nixie meter though, and tons of parts like sockets and the like. Oh, and a huge 10" Teac RTR that some mouses had chewed some wiring on, little buggers.:thumbsdn:

Was I wrong thinking the unit on top is for FM stereo multiplex? I never did figure it out.
I think it has a few Nuvistors underneath the hood. I forgot the maker of this Multiplexer Reciever unit.

I have a Heathkit AC-11 multiplex adapter with my AJ-30 tuner. Can't vouch on how good it is though.

It would definitely have to be from the early sixties, as the FM stereo standard was
not defined until 1961. Here in Montreal, Addison TV parts used to have piles
of 2-tube Fleetwood stereo adapters, that could be bought for less than the price
of the brand new tubes they included (I believe one of them was a 12AU7). This
was about 25 years ago, they're long gone by now.
