Tuner Advice

I have a Marantz Model 20 (not 20B), and a Sony ST-5000FW. A Radio X modified ST-5000FW is the best sounding tuner I've ever heard, but I've certainly not heard everything.

What would be the better tuner in which to invest with restoration/modifications? What other tuners would be recommended? Of interest: Denon TU-850 (have), Kenwood KT-8300/9900 (had), Phillips 673(1), Accuphase T-100. I'm more of an audiophool than a DX'er.

Any advice is most appreciated.

This might not be the right thread but here it goes. I have a Realisitc Sta 65 from 1968. I know, its a Realistic, but just think its a cool little receiver and in near mint condition. Anyway the left channel is very weak when using FM. Both channels are equal on all other inputs including using headphones. I'm assuming it has to do with the tuner section, but that's just a guess, since I know virtually nothing about the Tuner circuitry. Any suggestions what to check.

Off the top of my head I don't know the Denon but I do know the Kenwood KT 8300 has a 6 gang variable capacitor and a multipath meter as well as an output level potentiometer and a dimmer switch on the back while the Philips has a 5 gang variable capacitor and the Accuphase T-100 also has a 5 gang and a better build than the T-101 with a 4 gang. I would go with the KT-8300 over the others and I did recently pick it over the Accuphase. Second choice would be the Philips being considered one of the top tuners of all time and last the Accuphase because they're a bitch to get parts for. Out of the 6 tuners I have the Kenny is the strongest tuner I've had by far. Of course I have to add IMHO.
