relentlessly checking my phone for missed calls from binghamton area codes, reading every mcintosh forum, watching every history of the company youtube. no real thing to offer besides needing an outlet for my overwhelming excitement bleeding into outright impatience. i want it soooooooo bad

With a pair of ultra sensitive speakers, I'd just run them from the C33's monitor amp and forget about an external power amp but that's me. A number of people have done the same with a pair of Ks and they all said they missed nothing. Make no mistake, the C33 monitor amp is an ultra low distortion amp as worthy of the Mc name as anything and also has PG protection. With those speakers, I think you would become deaf before it ever actually kicked in.

That's a great idea, one that never occurred to me when I could have used it.

now i am spiraling wondering what to do with the mc2155
 
I used my C33 and MC2155 with Klipshorns for a long time. I've never had a really high end tube amp, but they never sounded better.

My personal opinion is that the built in amps in C33 and C34v do not sound very good.
 
I felt the same way with my mc2255 on khorns vs. my 33's monitor amp. The little amp in the 33 didn't actually sound bad but the 2255 just plain sounded better imo.
All 3 of those units are gone now but those were fun times when they were here.
