U-Turn Pluto Phono Preamp

I am looking at an UTurn Orbit + with Grado Cartridge, and have been searching to find best Phono Preamp at ~$100, new or used. I have Schiit equipment already, the Mani would fit in well. But the better price and better(?) review from above linked poll has me thinking twice.

I am not sure a poll like that is really fair (or accurate), and a true, in person comparison of the 2 is the only real way to know. Teej, do you have any thoughts, 3 months later?

Also, does anyone know if the Orbit built in preamp is the same as the Pluto?

I would think the onboard preamp is pretty basic. You, can order the Uturn now without it, saves a few bucks. I ordered mine without the onboard preamp and built a tube phono based on the one used in the Dynaco PAS3. The onboard will get you up and running until you decide on something better though.
 
I really like my U-Turn Pluto. I use it with a Technics SL-QX300 and an AT VS215EP cart using a ATN132EP stylus. Good capacitance match, capacitance of the Schiit Mani was unlisted so that was a deal killer for me as ATs need low capacitance. I did buy one of their Fulla 2 amp/DACs and I love it so far. Quality unit. I'm sure I will acquire more of their gear in the future.
