uh oh ...this cat wants to move in i think

That cat has spent some time outdoors.do you live near any farms ??
40 degrees....cold ??....what state are you in that 40 is cold...just curious .:scratch2:

nope no farms near by at all.. but there is a creek bed behind the house that runs a little ways lots of little creatures use it to traverse the area.

area is pretty suburban... there is a nursury down the end of the street but it is across a busy road and i haven't ever saw the cat anywhere near it.

oh and I'm about 25~miles north of San Diego so 40s at night is cold by standards here...:D

Cat was waiting for us when we got home she was just sitting on our front steps... and ran right in the house behind my wife when she opened the door.

I went and got some cat food and a box (hope this cat is box trained????) and a few other cat supplies today.. not sure what is up but as long as she is visiting at least needed cat stuff for her.

My wife is totally in love with the cat and vice verse cat jumped up on my wife's chest last night and slept there quite awhile. Cat seems to follow my wife around quite a bit also.

Sounds to me like somebody moved and left her to fend for herself. . :sigh:
She obviously came to the right house. . :thmbsp:

it might have been left somewhere and is travelling to find its owners/carers . cats will travel many miles if left somewhere .

oh and just to clarify i didn't throw her out this morning she has been coming in and out on her own all day.

i think she will probably want to stay inside for the rest of the night now that it is getting chilly outside... 50 some right now... BRRRRR had to turn on the furnace...lol..

A friend of mine just had her tomcat reappear at her house after more than a year away. She hadn't moved, either. He's been known to disappear for days at a time, even a week or so, but we had all written him off for dead months ago. Cats are survivors, and they often have extremely good internal maps.

Are you by the coast or more inland?

Well now that you're both becoming fast friends, how about a nice new pic to show your new girlfriend's good side?

Yep, I had a pair of kittens years ago when I was an aprtment dweller. Small garden Apt near Laurel, MD - 3rd floor.
Was listening to music when i realized I didn't see the orange boy cat. Couldn't find him anywhere.
All I could figure was that he must have been walking on the railing on the balcony and fallen off.

Fortunately there were azaleas at ground level, but even though we looked all over for him, we never found him.
Went through fall and winter, and in the spring one day when I came home from work,
a familiar cat was outside the door to the stairwell for our building. Followed me up and came in with me.
Our other cat hissed at him - didn't want to share us any more - but I knew it was the boy cat we lost when
he started playing fetch with one of those rings off a plastic jug of milk. That was his little quirk.

Don't know where he had been for 8 months, but he did come home.

Yep, cats are weird people. :D Just to clarify, I wasn't implying that you shouldn't make friends with her, if she has a "previous" owner. Some cats just need more than one owner, to wait on them. ;)

so i have learned my new cat buddy doesn't seem to be super keen to pose for photos...lol

but here is one of her enjoying the sunny caturday morning here with some organic cat nip i got her

I am having a hard time imagining if it is even possible to get her into a carrier for a trip to the vet?

Thick leather gloves and be quick about it. We had a cat that adopted us after living a year on her own outside and she didn't like the carrier either, but we managed when it was needed.

You will get scratched during this process, though if you get her around the middle the gloves should take care of the biting. Cat claws are one way by the way, the stick great when being pulled, but push them forward and they come right undone. Also, cats always try to back out of things, might be something to think about when you put her in the crate.

yeah... she is a nice looking cat indeed.

oh right

yeah ...good idea on the gloves that is probably what would have to be done.... the vet will doubtless be in for a treat dealing with a cat this strong and feisty however...lol

I will actually call the vet on monday and see what she thinks and how they would want to proceed given that I honestly believe this cat might well go ballistic on them if we take her in there.

Just tell the cat you are the boss. She shouldn't give you any problem after that. Matter of fact, that works with all females.

Yep, looks like somebody spilled a cat on your porch. You'd better clean that up! :D Stick a fork in yourself... your done! You have been adopted by a cat! Looks a lot like my friend's cat Max. He's a big friendly orange tabby too. Also likes to bite hard if you don't approach him right. That body language in that picture shows that a) she's feeling very comfortable around you and b) she's was conditioned to be around people. She likely had some good raising before finding you.

yeah... she has gotten pretty comfy around here pretty quick i just came home to find her napping with my wife in bed looking for all the world like she has been our cat since she was a kitten..

So I am going to need to get on figuring out if she is chipped or whatnot ... my wife is getting very attached to this cat, and I don't want to go much longer before finding out (if possible) if she is actually up for grabs (stray /abandoned ...????) or if she is just running away from home...for awhile at least.

Assuming she is up for grabs then she is mine...if she belongs to someone else I'm going to try to get her back to them and see what is up with them......If she was my cat i'd be postering the neighborhood with flyers already however if she had been gone going on 4 days now (she has been her for 3 nights and all day today so far.)

I have always preferred to have more indoor only cats ...as it is a dangerous world out there..but if I wind up keeping her I'm not sure that is going to work with this one...she seems to be very fond of roaming and hunting...so may have to deal with that, just may have to let her out to do her thing and hope for the best.... if we can keep her (i.e. if we don't need to get her back to her owners and all).

Before you or your wife get too attached ---Get her checked for a micro chip. Imagine the heartache her owners are going through ---if she has any. Thus get her checked.
BTW --Very pretty girl..

yeah.... going to call and see what the vet thinks...cause it is going to be "interesting" getting her to the vet... going to check to see if I can find anyone that can come here to check as well honestly cause i think it would be easier on me and the cat honestly...

Actually, a great purchase to make for anybody owned by a cat is a top loading cat carrier. On mine, you can zip open the top and leave the sides shut. I grab Sabrina nicely, and carry her to the carrier. I then restrain her front and back legs and quickly put her in the carrier nose first. Once in, she stands on all fours prepared to jump out. I then push her head down gently and zip the cover shut quickly. When she's home, you can zip the side open for escape. Funny is that at home it is a struggle to get her in. When she is at the vet, she jumps right back in ready to go home! :D

I do have a couple of advantages with her: she doesn't have front claws and she isn't a biter.

Cool looking cat. Looks like she is pretty young (that is an adult that is not too old).

Sometimes they just don't like their old owners and go find new ones on their own.

I hope you and your wife get to keep her.
