Yes your bang on the money they used modified units in there cabinets they are still using the same cab design 30 years on . i only have two out of the four drivers so i need to make a decision. Do i refurb the two drivers and split them other the two cabs and replace the back drivers with basic drivers. Or do i chase and hunt for rowen drivers wich apart from a website seem to be ghost.

I think they did... I heard that they use the same drivers as the acoustic research company.... So refoaming them would be the same as refoaming an acoustic research speaker... Fully do-able.
Other than that... You haven't really given any other information... Or asked any questions... So... Maybe you were waiting for... Nice speakers!! (Never heard of them... But sounds pretty good in theory)
Maybe you will need to replace the capacitors in the crossover as well, but that should also be as straight forward as the refoam... Identify/replace.

Definitely refoam them rather than replacing drivers.

Interesting beasts! The caps look pretty good, I'd be listening before changing out any of those film caps. What is up with that woofer!

The only descriptions I could find of these called them "high end," and there's no doubt that the company spared few expenses in construction. Look at the wire guage in that inductor! And nice caps, too. I agree with Toxcrusader - I'd give these a listen before reflexively changing the caps.
Looks like the only real chore ahead of you is finding proper surrounds to restore the woofs, but considering they are AR-sourced, that should not be a problem.
How about posting a video of these in action once you have them up and running?

Thanks for your input they really are lovely . Got a lot of work to get thes mint again . Here's the deal each cabinet has 2 woofers 1 front 1 back problem is I only have 2 out of the 4 the previous owner removed the rear speakers as they got the rot first then he lost them (f King gutted) I can not find anything on these speakers other then a website . I think my only option is to source standard ar drivers for the rear and reform the front r2 ar s . Do you think this makes sense . I will most definitely post videos when there done .
Oh that sucks that the woofers are gone. You're sure they were active woofers and not passive radiators? Should be a pair of wires hanging loose if they are active. In which case just get the number off one of the others and google/ebay it. Someone here at AK may even have one.
You really want to get the correct woofer. As you may already know, woofers interact with the cabinet much more than the other drivers, in addition to all the other interactions drivers have with each other and the crossover. Woofers are fussy to replace. To get the correct sound you need the correct original, and failing that, something as close to original as possible - which would mean testing the ones you have. I'd search for correct originals first, be patient, and if you can't find them after awhile, AK will help you select replacements

Yes your right I'll be patient you can't rush art . The rear have cables also looking at pics from old brochure I will see if I can upload it explains why they use 2 woofers and the wedge design .
If the original mids and tweeters are standard AR, that's probably fairly easy, but sourcing those woofers with the weird dust cap (and possibly other mods?) could be difficult. Any idea if the numbers on the upper drivers match standard AR drivers?
Or maybe you have a source for the drivers already. In that case all you'd have to worry about is the dimensions of the cabinet. I wonder if Djelky is still around? Looks like he never did post much.
