Unique stereo at Michigan estate sale

I think it is the smaller version, called the Metrogon or something like that. Mc equipment definitely. Wonder what the tt is, but nothing shabby. Whoever bought that new was either a musician or really enjoyed the good life.

I can almost say that a flipper bought this and you will soon see it on the bay pieced out.

Most likely. But, at least it more likely than not will stay out of the land fill though the equip cabinet will likely be sacrificed.

Judging from the huge number of medical volumes and cutesy "doctor" knick-knacks and figurines I would say that the previous owner was a physician of some sort. The furnishings were understated but tasteful, and probably pretty expensive in their day. It doesn't look like they had replaced the furniture since when they bought it in the 60's, although one bedroom (probably a daughter's) screamed 1970's with the bedroom set that was in there. Everything was in remarkably pristine condition. I would hazard a guess that the audio equipment was the same.

In the day, it looks like the good doctor like to throw a party or two. The audio equipment was in the walk-out lower level in the room adjoining the wet bar. The circa 60's nudie wall hangings and pin-up glassware was sharing space with the vintage Heublein bottled cocktail mixes. A friend of mine at a similar estate sale remarked that "the shag carpeting has probably seen more
'rear-ends' than a 90 year old proctologist". If only walls could talk ...

The previous owner was a dentist and that turntable was a Scott Stroboscpic Model 710.

No I didn't buy it.

Well at those prices, he may have an opportunity to.
$6750 seems really high for that Metregon; we all walked on it at $6800 and the drivers parted out probably wouldn't bring $1000. He'll sell the electronics, but may be hard pressed to get his $6000 back w/o getting $2000+ for the Metregon.

Then again, if someone overseas has a container they're looking to fill....

Maybe we should call him up and make a field trip :D

He said to see his other ads for more items, so maybe the rest will pop up later.

Those Mc's are just gorgeous...I don't think I could ever put my self up to selling them. As for the Metregon I don't think he will get much for it, that finish isn't very desirable anymore..I don't see anyone furnishing a room with old blondie furniture. Oh course in his photo it is very very yellow looking...wonder what he cleaned it with?

You never know with the Metregon if the right collector comes along it could go easily. There are not that many of them lying around.

And what cracks me up about the most expensive one on eBay is that they have had it listed for a while with only the one washed-out picture. It seems to me that if you are trying to get almost $9,000 for an item you might include a few more, higher quality photos.

Well, that yellow color is pretty much spot on; they were definitely yellower than most blonde furniture I've seen.

And that nice walnut C-45 cab loaded with Wharefedale drivers, but plus some Knight, Eico and Garrard stuff didn't bust $1200. One could have bought that cab, flipped the drivers and the rest, and bought the right JBL components and had a nicer looking Metregon for under $2000 easy, maybe $1500.
