Unusual Rickie Lee Jones Record. Can't Find Info

It's also the closing track on her pretty great Girl at Her Volcano EP, at least some of the versions, wouldn't fit the vinyl, but was on the CD and I guess the original cassette. Maybe that's why they released a separate single. It is live recordings from a few venues. What's on the other side of the single?

Very strange, but also very cool.....I have the 10 inch Girl At Her Volcano, with the catalogue number 1-23805. It does not have that Bill Barnes tune, Something Cool on it at all but as mentioned above some evidently do. 45rpm, bet it sounds pretty nice, eh?

My guess is it is a test pressing that never found its way to market. Did it have a cover?
Well, they typically wouldn't do a test pressing on anything other than black vinyl. So that's probably not it.

This was likely just a limited promotional single given away due to the fact that this song didn't fit on the original 10" vinyl pressings of "Girl at Her Volcano." The track was on the tape version, if I recall correctly.

No doubt her debut album was a brilliant first outing.
Not to derail the thread but it’s great to see other RLJ fans. Pirates is one of my top 10 (maybe 5?) albums of all time.

I was an intern at a recording studio in 1985 when the studio owner/my mentor introduced me. He passed several years ago and this album will alway remind me of him.

Regarding your mystery vinyl, regardless of its origins, it seems like a great and unique addition to your collection!

Given that both Girl At Her Volcano and this disk are 10 inch, and "Something Cool" wasn't on the original EP but included on the cassette, another hypothesis is that this disk was a limited-edition "bonus disk" with the original EP.

When her debut album came out, my best friend at the time, and I kind of made fun of her unintelligible singing and, actually, sang "Chuck E's In Love" in made up syllables and laughed. However, we both adored her and her album.
