Unusual tubes.

I occasionally check 19 on a Sony 7600D travel portable, sometimes a quick bandscan when I travel, almost no activity, even near interstates. Assume main users now otr truckers as past times for chat and road cdx.
11 mtrs pretty much turned into a shiitestorm when licensing requirement went away long ago. I was kinda-sorta into it long ago, but the rabble-rousers/shiitetalkers/noise toys/ agitators pretty much cured me of that. Hence, I got ham-licensed in 96, slow-code tech plus ticket. Later advanced to General, changed call sign (k8cat), kept it at that. Not active much, but maintain capabilities. CB has been pretty much dead for years, I think the advent of internet & cell phones have something to do with that.

Cell phones and Google maps cover road cdx in many instances for delays and alternate routing.18 wheelers may not always be able to use the alternates.

Nice tube jobrewer1983 . Is that uraniumglass ,if not how did you get it to glow like that ?
regards F.

lol no it’s just an old Christmas light bulb, it came with the tube.

one of my buddies is a prolific estate sale Hunter, he found the tube years ago. I was over at his place picking up some speakers a while back and he had it set up on a shelf. I had to ask if it was for sale. Lol took me some time but after a few weeks of asking we agreed on a price. :)

I was actually thinking maybe a UV LED. I know uranium glass glows under black light, not sure if an LED would excite it enough to glow or not.

I use a invisible ink pen with a builtin uv led to spot uranium glass at thrift stores ,
works and is compact.
Regards F.
