User Permissions

Thanks so much for all the enhancements, restorations, and improvements.

Probably the next thing is the visual colors and look?

Never ceases to amaze me the dedication AK's staff has for the site and its members!

For those of you who occasionally experience slow page loading times, I have learned that XF handles embedded YouTube videos a bit differently than vB. (Why not? It does everything else differently, and that is a good thing!)

XF pre-loads the video(s). With one or two, this is not a problem. Some threads have several to MANY. This can be a serious problem for older machines or some services. We have changed that so that the video will only load if you click on it. The load times should improve for those who experienced this problem.

Those of us who are sometimes on spotty wireless connections, thank you!!

Of course, we also thank you for everything else you guys do!

Regards,
Gordon.

For those who wonder, each person sees a different AK. Even the admins. Turns out there are various possible levels of permissions, even among us. When I found out that there were things I couldn't see, and some of them dealt with things for which people were asking, the need for a tutorial was apparent. Then there were three schedules to resolve.

Graphics and appearance are still a bit down the road, as others are working on the image problem.

User permissions are not right, yet, just jerry-rigged to basically work. Total rebuild, to proper and efficient functioning, is rather a large undertaking, and I need more time to figure this out. We're not done, yet.

There are still some other basic functions for members and staff, and some wishlist items, as well.

The upside to all this? I made a new friend. Always a good day, when that happens.

Luther, I know that I am barely scratching the surface. You are mucking about, down in the guts of this beast. Anything I can contribute is paled by your work on this project.

Lookin' good! There have been a lot of enhancements the past few days. Many thanks!

Hiya,

Though I know it's not an issue with you, Frannie, there have been several pissing contests, over buy&sell, where edited conversations would be a nightmare. So, once they are sent, that will be it. One can follow up, with a correction, and it would be part of the conversation thread. No disputing the contents, that way.
Sad that it comes to this, but editable conversations were not a 'go'.

Ahh the Squeaky Wheels of commerce raise their sludgy head above the muck.

Thanks for the clarification Ernie and sorry you have to put up with stuff like that.

Sadly Ernie is right. We intended to make them editable, but then, when we were dragged in the middle of a dispute we could not get the full story. Sadly it has to stay the way it is.
