Utah Speakers

Scored a pair of Utah Model AS-12 for 4.00 at a garage sale. I cant find any info on these speakers. They sound pretty nice hooked up to a Sherwood S-7200

If you have a reason to open them up, I'm curious as to what woofers they have in them. Are the foams in good shape?

I've been investigating this brand too and finding that a lot of them are just OK but....quality cabs and ripe for component upgrading into something really good. Picked up a pair of WD-90's ($10.00) and they sound woofy with not a lot of highs. (A friend is going to show me a $70.00 upgrade that "will put a smile on my face so bad....my cheeks will hurt."?)

I've got a pair of WD-90s that I feel are just kind of blah.

Ya...I guess he knows of some tweets that just pop in and a trick to tighten up the bass driver response. The cabs and grill on these are....top quality "vanilla" (and do like that pure basic look). I'll be meeting with him end of this coming week and will post on it.

Well....ended up trading these for a small pile of Minimus 7's,77's and one one Optimus Lineaum DiPolar. (I was down one of these for a set and now have 3 pair.) I'm going to learn what he would have done and post it here.
