Valuation for Sansui 771

I have a Sansui 771, but it isn't flawless. The fuse type lamp for the signal display has been soldered to the clip. I don't have the tools or skills to fix it. Aside from that, two other lamps seem to have a loose connection - they work, but may require a tap to blaze to full glory. All channels work, buttons and dials are good, inputs are good, and the exterior is in good shape.

What's a reasonable ask in this condition?

Ebay has them selling for up to $300+ and Reverb has one listed for $280.

Are you selling local on online? Looked at eBay and unless it's perfect or restored I really doubt 300 is happening.
 
There was one listed locally that sat for a couple months. Last price I remember seeing for it was $125.. Ebay sold varies from around $125 - $250.. One with a few issues will be toward the lower end. Depending on your locale, $100-$150..
 
Mine took ages to sell for IIRC £120 in the end and here in the UK people go mad for 70's Sansui, it's a lovely receiver but for some reason that series doesn't get the respect other Sui's do.
 
I couldn't get $75 for a deoxit service and new bulbs Sansui 331.After a month I just decided to keep it.This was very recent.
 
I had a 661(should’ve kept it) that I sold for 100 bucks in 1 day. It was a 9/10. Depending on your location, personally I wouldn’t start low. You can always come down. This stuff is still selling for crazy prices, in my area anyway. I think this series of receivers look and sound great. Be patient if you can it will sell!

I'm in Fort Worth, TX and the market seems pretty good for vintage receivers right now. I picked it up at a pawn shop and have been enjoying the heck out of it. I'm hesitant to put any money into repairs because it probably wouldn't increase the resale value enough to justify the investment.
 
Unless you need the $$$, why not just enjoy it. Not being a smart ass, but these little gems are getting harder and harder to find. I have a 331 I bought over 10 years ago. I bring it out a couple times a year just exercise it. And I am never disappointed in its performance in the rig I set it up in. Just saying.

OK, let's review this comment. In looking at eBay just now, eBay has the Sansui 771 actually SELLING from around $120 - 220 depending on condition. ASKING can be anything and everything. So, if you really want to know how much they are SELLING for, you have to select the following boxes in the left side of your screen, then it will show you what actually SOLD for what price. Don't want to ship and give a warranty, then local selling prices are about 40-60% of SOLD eBay average price.

Good point, Audio Fan. I checked ebay, but I didn't deduct shipping costs from the sold price. I'll put it up on CL and see what happens. Worst case, I keep it as an occasional receiver. Thanks, everyone.

It really isn't that difficult, but even here, the OP confuses shipping cost with actual selling price. At best, even WITH shipping charges, the highest 771 is only $250.
 
I sold mine around 1.5 years ago. I got about $100 for it. It was with some other stuff the guy bought (Carver Preamp, Realistic 100 watt amp, NHT 1.5 speakers ect)
 
$100-$150 is a fairly common range now.
In good working and decent cosmetic condition.

Ebay is skewed due to global selling possibility.
It reaches the far corners of the earth.
I get the best price there.
It may take a while.
It may be a global sale, leaving the US.
I have excellent electronics sales history and I’m a tech that can touch them up and verify they are on good condition.

Value is based on seller buyer agreement and so “it depends”. If you do not offer it with a broad enough audience, it may be worthless.

I have tons of gear to sell and much of it of little actual value but shipping kills my market.
I know much of it is much better than anything available cheap in many places, but it doesn’t sell and I end up scraping it for the metal.

Supply and demand.

I just decided to enjoy mine in a small second rig vinyl setup.Really nice sounding unit with the right speakers.
