Value of restored Marantz 1060

I’m curious about thoughts on what I could realistically ask for in selling a restored Marantz 1060, with original box, packaging and manual/schematics. The restoration was a full electrolytic recap and replacement of known problematic transistors (about 24), followed by bias and clip setting. The unit face is pretty much flawless. It has the metal, not wood, case.

12 bills is enough over the top so that The Dill will be able to keep his 1060 and enjoy it for years...until the price reaches 1200 bucks.

Ebay sold has piles of them. Knowing that the wood box is 200-250 by itself and a bit less when with the amp. you can look over that long list of units to see what they go for. Half the above would be a good price for a fully rebuilt with the box, packing and paperwork.

I wouldnt consider ANY 1060 priced over $300 without the wood case. They are not rare, they are only 18#'s and 30wpc, they are plentiful and I already have nice sounding 30wattish units. I guess if someone needs a unit and doesnt have a clue about electronics I can see $400 for a restored one but there just isnt expensive parts or elaborate circuits in those and are easy to work on so that is how I see it. Of coarse any vintage unit in really mint condition do bring $$$ but those are rare and most listings seem to be pricing average units at mint prices so they relist and relist and relist until reality sets in.

Although I agree with this, the market speaks to the unbridled lust for the Marantz brand well past its performance level as evidenced by the bay sold listings.

There is just other gear I'd spend those dollars on, but the OP JCM, asked what to price one at and the bay gets more than other outlets so he has the high end of the range. Selling local, really depends on that market but it is usually less than bay pricing by a bit to 30% lower.

I'm glad I bought most of the Marantz gear I restored over the years before the prices got stupid high. The first one I bought in working order for $200. The second one I bought several years later and was a total basket case coming to me in chunks and pieces. It cost me $100. I thought that was kind of high, but I bought it as a challenge and it worked out well in the end. I bought a working 1030 for around $100 and it even still had the clear plastic protector over the face plate. I kept the one 1060 and really like it. Marantz was pretty conservative with output ratings. I got a little over 40wpc with both 1060's once resrored.
