The unit, hum aside, sounds really excellent so I’d like to avoid the full auto-recap at this point.
Hopefully, the ‘guvnor’ will be along presently to advise.
Although...maybe it is all the cans in the picture, or maybe even another board..?

Is there a pre-existing list of best cap types for replacement?
I can see a BP already, and aren’t sure which ones need a PW and which need a KL or whatever..

Previous to my custodianship, somebody had to repair the extraction of the Input Wafer switch. If only they’d spoken to Dave before attempting this. Anyway, the following three photos show the repair. Enameled wire....Its a pain in the ass to strip enamel off for soldering. But looks a lot more professional.
I stripped down and old Weller soldering gun for the core of enameled wire.
Drastically reduces the possibility of wires getting shorted out.

I've repaired worse.. Just imagine if the entire board was physically cracked.. Been there ..;)

One of the downfalls of repairing a unit .. That someone else took a first crack at. First fix the
" root cause " then repair the induced damage.

Thanks for the tip, I was thinking of trying to coat the existing wires with heatshrink but this is a far more elegant solution.
Staying with my ‘hum’ problem.. is there anything in this area of wiring that looks like the cause?

Ok, I’ll go looking elsewhere for hum source..
1. Disassemble and check RCA board at the back.
2. Change those caps. Sorry to ask again but in that area should they be PW or KL’s?
 
PW's will work just fine. There are 8 BP's on that board.. Nichicon ES's or EP's
 
Something doesn’t look right on one of the wafers in this Phono switch...
Presume the whole switch has to be extracted to access and repair?

for small signal, wire wrapping wire is another option
