VD1212 on Yamaha C4

Those wafers are the same type as the ones used by a Sansui 9090DB that I am repairing. I had no problems fixing them.

Good to hear.
Might you have once installed a relay protect within a Yamaha P2200, or am I confusing you with someone else?
..I have a P2200 which after a recap is silent at on/off but am beginning to think that I should sort something, if I can do it without a reduction in sq..

Yes, I have installed a relay protect circuit inside a P2200. There is a thread somewhere. There is no degradation in sound quality, and my speakers are safe in case of failure.

Great. I might try and look it up at some point, I seem to recall it fitted snugly within the amp, and obviously it's still working!
May I ask how you went about cleaning up the wafers? Just about to start.
Isopropyl alcohol and a very tiny stiff brush to start? Or washing up liquid?

I used zero residue contact cleaner, a small brush, and a little patience. Finally a little of cleaner with dielectric lubricant to prevent oxidation.
