Very Interesting Altec's

i'm not an altec expert or anything, but i don't see anything in the pics that resemble mantarays
and as far as being a second pair, i think the serial # says 4019

I paused at every,coma in his ad,and it took me,twenty minutes,to finish reading it,....:sigh:

Beyond that, they look nice but the seller seems a bit confused about the origins of his "no more in the WORLD" speakers.
Mark S. Ureda was / is associated with the Manta ray horn, but those are clearly 811B's.
I'm guessing that the crossovers and woofers may have come from model 14's ?? ..:scratch2:
Another WAG...as far as the serial # goes . 4 01 9.

For 10K....I'd be wanting something a little nicer than plastic binding post cups.
Nice looking DYI's IMO.

N-1201 is an "off the shelf" Altec component, it's a clone of the model 19 crossover. It was used in some factory systems, but was also available as a stand alone component. It's one of the most versatile XO's Altec made, and the only passive i'd use for tangerine equipped drivers.

The woofers are some version of 416, since he says "ALNIKO" and it has a 16 inch frame we can assume it's a 416-8B which would be the most desirable. But, we can't be sure of anything without seeing it. Model 14's woofer is a 12 incher in a 13 inch frame with a rolled edge and mud magnet, and it's crossover is entirely proprietary to the 14 and 9842 studio monitor.

That's what I get for guessin'.
There will be no conjecture in the Altec world of Bowtie427 !!
Truth be told,I knew if I threw out some erroneous info,Tom would set me straight ! ! . :thmbsp:
