VERY RARE rotel receiver

Register to hide this ad
That is a very nice receiver indeed. What is the going rate for something like that? It really reminds me of Optonica!

I did some google on this one and I found almost NOTHING.

must really be rare.

The official rotel site does say though that it's--

RX-2001
75wpc
1976-1981
$750

thats a lot of money for a 75wpc receiver, IMO. I would like to own this one, but Ive got other audio "priorities" that come first.

I also did an AK search for "RX-2001" and found no results(except for this thread)

Also, the handles look much like those of the indfamous 500wpc RB-5000.

That one is very cool. Reminds me of the very rare black RB-5000 power amp. I have a black RX-504 and it is neat for being black.

I've always wondered how Rotel had two completely separate lines of receivers and separates. One series is the RX-XX03 topped by the mighty RX-1603 and the other ones are the RX-2000 series receivers and XX-2000 separates.

Go for it, Sam!

the Rotel site shows that it is the only receiver from that line.
Also, do you have the RB-5000? I wonder how many exist? what a cool piece!

the RX-2001 looks to be built to top quality.

This silver one sold for 40 euros... that isnt much money.

I've seen that one too (I live in belgium, found my advents on that site)
wasn't it broken? I think so...

Edit: the only thing that's not working on the rotel at kapaza is the fm tuner 'it doesn't receive the channels anymore'...
it's not to far away from me

anyways, 40€ is not much :)

Hi,
I just wanted to say, that i think at least The 2000 series separates are of euqal quality as the rx-xxxx.
i use a RA-2040 for about 10 years now and am very pleased with it, it has lots of power (2x120/8 but can handle more than that)
and sounds very good. Compared to my RX-1603 i can't see nor hear any big differences in quality at all.
The only difference is the looks, but that is a matter of taste i guess.

Greetings

Due to this excellent resource here at AK, I have found myself branching out into receivers. I have mainly been a separates or integrated enthusiast, but have recently been acquiring some of the receivers I have yearned for over the years. Another reason for my recent receiver interest is that I am running out of room to house everything and figured I could squeeze in some receivers here and there.

So recently, I picked up this beautiful black face RX-2001. She cosmetically is mint, with nary a blemish on her. She is also hefty at 35 pounds. All controls and lights are fully functional and just needs some contacts cleaned up. I would like to find the silver version of it and its big brother the RX-2002, which was a 90 watter.

I figured I'd post up some photos of it here on this older discussion for future reference to what it looks like.

Hello vintaggeman,

First of what a very nice collection of the Rotel Silvers you have there!

Secondly, thanks for the kind comments.

Yeah, the auction closed close to 11 P.M. my time, but I used the Ron Popeil “Set and Forget” method as I had set a snipe for it a few days earlier. A nice surprise to wake up to that’s for sure. It was a close one as I only had a $10.00 margin until my limit would have been reached over the second bidder! Now that I have seen its condition, I see that I should have put a tad more in to be safe!

Now my hurdle is finding the matching black components for it!

Regards,
TB
