VERY RARE rotel receiver

Yes, not the cleanest interconnect routing that is for sure, but even my 2-year-old TOTL Marantz looks no better under its wrapping. :sigh:

IMO, Rotel exteriors look great! I prefer the older RX-1203, RX-1603, RA-1312, RA-1412, and RT-1024 look. However, the square handle models are very nice, especially when fitted to the RB/RC-5000.

Yeah, the auction closed close to 11 P.M. my time, but I used the Ron Popeil “Set and Forget” method as I had set a snipe for it a few days earlier. A nice surprise to wake up to that’s for sure. It was a close one as I only had a $10.00 margin until my limit would have been reached over the second bidder! Now that I have seen its condition, I see that I should have put a tad more in to be safe!

Now my hurdle is finding the matching black components for it!

I too like the looks of the other model line. I wonder why they had two separate lines in production at the same time? I do not necessarily think it was offering a cheaper product as based on pricing from that period. The RX-1203 (120W) had an MSRP of $860.00 and the RX-2002 (90W) had an MSRP of $850.00. I know that the RX-2001 (75W) had an MSRP of $750.00 and must have been late in the 76-81 production period as evidenced by the additional LED display.

I have the RX-1X03's and RA-1X12's on my short list and the RB/RC combo on my wish list!

BTW, I realized after I posted earlier that you too had been eyeballing that SR-2004 that I picked up last Saturday. I still do not have my hands on it yet as it took UPS some time to do the foam in place routine so it was not sent of until last Monday afternoon. It is scheduled to arrive this coming Monday and I will finally get to see exactly what its condition is.

I've always wondered how Rotel could have two full lines of receivers at the same time. Rotel was not a volume leader. The RX-x04 series was in production around the same time so that may have been a third line??:scratch2:

Agreed, the RX-1203, 1603, and RA-1x12 and RT-1024 are the models to collect. The others like the RX-803 and lower have plastic handles and other details that disappoint.
 
I got the T-2100 Tuner from this line of separates. It´s a splendid 5 gang FM only tuner that I use in my main system.

As an owner of both Yamaha and Kenwood components(though a follower of no 'Brand Allegiance'.),this thread is a perfect illustration of the value of the Vintage Solid State Forum.
I've often argued to those who clamour for a 'Yamaha' forum,or a 'Kenwood' forum,that the effect of having a 'Brand Only' forum is stultifying.
Having exposure to relatively obscure(yet quality)components like those in this thread,and many others,leads to a greater appreciation of all Vintage Solid State components.

I just got a RA-2030, while not a receiver, so not really on topic here, it appears to be a pretty solid unit, quite beefy. I hope to get it up an running in a couple of weeks.
 
Just bought a RX-2001 a couple months back, and am very happy with it. It sounds really good through the Sony SS-TL5's I got a couple of weeks ago.

Since this thread was started in 2009 the ebay link has been dead about as long as Michael Jackson. If only a model number and pictures would have been shown or mentioned.
Must be the very rare INVISIBLE NO MODEL NUMBER Rotel receiver.

I see some model numbers and pictures later in the thread. Is one of those what the OP was referring to?
 
I have the RX-2001 that I would like to have restored.. found it in a thrift store. I don't remember if the amplifier section works.. I've used it as simply a pre amp running into my Rotel RB-5000.
