Vintage 1967 Built In High End Home Hi Fi

8+ years in the planning/making - beautiful job! I hope that it gives you complete and total enjoyment (but we know better)! This is a labor of love that will likely always demand further refining/tweaking - that’s what our hobby is about. The first owner was obviously very passionate about the sound system, as are you - as the follow-on owner. Job well done Sir!

I have finally had some down time to play and enjoy listening to my Decware SE84UFO25 tube amp. I am using my Schiitt Fryea for volume control using the basic stepped attenuator setting (no buffer or amplification). This lets me use the Freya remote for volume control with the SE84UFO25 volume controls turned all the way up.

So far I am using the basic set of tubes Decware supplied (see link below for details). Decware provides additional tubes to play with, but I will probably not be tube rolling until I get 20+ hours of listening accumulated.

Initial listening impressions. Quantitatively, 2.3 Watts per channel with my 100 dB/watt-meter efficiency speakers is easily enough power for my listening. I am playing nowhere close to clipping, based on the output meter readings. The volume knob on the Freya indicates I am doing most of my listening at a slightly lower setting than with the two Schiitt Ageir mono amps. Qualitively, I believe that I enjoy listening using the Decware tube amp at a lower volume level than with the Ageirs. I attribute this to getting the sound I want at a lower volume setting, but cannot yet explain what the difference is.

What an amazing and beautiful finished project. So much detail. The slide out tube amp drawer is especially cool to me, with the rings for keeping speaker wires in place. Very well done.
Also the orange fabric definitely looks better (1970's)!!
 
Thanks Old-School. Currently listening to some Jon Batiste on the system while doing some writing. I built a computer work station for my home office using a 100 year old vanity belonging to my grandmother. My home office is in the media room with the audio system, so now when I get writers block or just tired, I can fold up the workstation and move to the couch for serious listening enjoyment.

Hi all,

Well, the last task I had promised to perform on this long journey of a audio project, was the creation of a YouTube video. This link is to the first YouTube video I ever created, so I am open to comments on how it can be improved. Instead using a phone camera to make the typical narrated video of an audio system playing music, I decided on something different. Tell me honestly what you think is bad, is good, and what changes you recommend. For some it may not be available to stream until tomorrow morning, August 26th.

 
Looks like everything is working this morning with the video. Resolution of text also is good on my small cell phone. If anyone has any issues, pulling it up, let me know.
