Vintage 3-ways for around $250

The TF350 is not the best model in the Time Frame line up, but it's still a DCM Time Frame, so it should sound very good. The price is cheap enough to get your introduction into DCM speakers. You find yourself later seeking out other DCM's in the future.

It's got to sound better than my old Bose 301's, no?

I actually got rid of those so I dont have any speakers at all right now!

I left a voice message for the Time Frames. Hopefully dude will call back soon.

Oh yeah, they'll be better for sure. :thmbsp:

That's the only A series Boston I'd say no to.

I seen them on Ebay. I am ready to buy online if there is anything out there in my price range including shipping.

The hunt continues.

I don't mind buying something even if it is not a lifetime keeper. I just need to get my feet wet...

Yeah, unfortunately those are the only Boston A series that aren't very good.

Not to criticize your choices but it never hurts to add another :)
They're not 3 way but some of the best speakers anywhere and one of my faves, Energy 22. Well worth a listen.

Not sure where you're from but they're easier to get in Canada. I've seen them on Ebay as well. There's someone on CanuckAdioMart right now selling 2 pairs of the 22 connoisseur, the top of the 3 models but he wants $1000 a pair and they are gorgeous. There's several others selling Pros. The Pro (rear vent) 22 or Reference (front vent) 22 are the same drivers, different box and are much cheaper to get. They'd be in your price range.

They're not much to look at, but the AR Rock Partners are very good sounding speakers that you can find cheaper than the rest of the AR-18 series. I'd like to find a second pair so I can try stacking them.

I still haven't found anything local.

I came across these Acoustic Research AR 4350's at a thrift store for $50. Couldn't find any info on them so I passed.

Are they decent speakers?

These are NOT Acoustic Research speakers. They are the proverbial "white van" speakers. They just have a cleverly deceptive name.

Good call on passing...

They looked rather cheap, I wasn't feeling it. Did a quick google on my phone and seen an old thread about the "white van" speakers. Wasn't sure if they were the same or not.

What about the DCM Time Piece? I read that they lack bass and are suppose to be used with a separate woofer?

In my condo they may be okay.. They are asking $120.

No?

Those are supposed to be pretty decent, but I wouldn't pay that much for them.

I saw a pair of DCM Time Windows on the San Fran CL just a few minutes ago, for $120, and I'd much rather have those...in fact I do own a pair and they're fantastic.

The ad says "San Bruno" where ever that is.

I was curious about those as well. I sent a message requesting some pics. I will go check them out if everything looks okay.

Thanks!

Believe those are great speakers and well worth the price if they are in good condition. I'm listening to mine as I type this.

Damn man, your CL has a **** load of speakers I'd buy. There are some nice old Infinity's, like a set of very good looking RSB's, a pair of Boston T-930's for $169 that need the woofers refoamed, but that's easy, and I'd use it to offer less. But still, if you can get the Time Windows...I would.

The Time Windows would be an excellent choice. If you don't like them you can always recoup your costs as long as they are in good condition and all drivers are working.

For harder rock I prefer the larger Time Frames. TF-700 and up sound good on just about any kind of music and handle power well.

You might like Pioneer HPM series speakers too. Some people hate them but some people hate Klipsch too. I've had several good pairs of Klipsch speakers which are all gone but I still have my HPM-100 and HPM-900's. Remember that speakers are a personal choice thing and only you can decide what you like.

Forget about those suckers, this is classic Acoustic Research AR2ax. You may want to try look for AR5 on eBay also, they go cheaper than the AR2ax, but many folks here like them better.
