Vintage Electronic Repair or Restoration in South Florida?

Can you recommend a vintage Marantz restoration place, prefer South Florida?

Can anyone recommend a store, or person, for vintage electronic repair and/or restoration? I am located in the Fort Lauderdale / Pompano Beach area, but frequently travel to Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties.

Thank you

I also go to Orlando (Disney), and Tampa, a couple times a year if there is a recommended place at one of these locations.

How about any recommendations for a Marantz 2275 restoration anywhere?

I was hoping to find someone local and save on the $100 roundtrip shipping.

Most of the repair guys here on AK are backed up for months...as I am.

What's the problem?

The unit appears to be operating fine, but I was thinking of getting it restored/recapped and giving it to my uncle as a gift. I figured if I had it restored then he would not have to worry about it breaking down on him, it would be good for another couple decades.

how much recapping are you talking about? if its just the power section i can take care of it. i have plenty of my own gear on cue for bench time but can take it on if your in a bind. theres NOBODY in miami i would trust except for a guy named bill that works in a shop down in south dade. name of the shop escapes me at the moment.

im the planetarium tech at the miami science museum if you're ever down here.

There is an old guy in Melbourne that might be able to do what you need. Tedco Electronics is the company name.

I have the same question regarding a repair tech/shop in Florida, but I'm closer to Tampa.I'm a new member on this forum and reading through several posts, it looks like it could become addicting. I have a Marantz 2270 receiver in need of some help.

My immediate need is the string for the tuner control, or at least the spec for it so that I know what to buy. (and where to buy it) I've got the unit opened up to replace the lamps and the glue holding the string disintegrated. I can re-wind it, but need a new string, a list of other parts that might be needed (tension spring and/or 'hook)', and a bit of guidance on how to accurately adjust the tuner once installed so that the dial is accurate.

Once this is done, I may consider a re-cap and a good going over, depending on the going rate for this work.

Thanks for any help forth coming. This is going to be fun.

Brad

I throw my name in too...I've got 2 McIntosh pieces (an MX-113 & MC-2100) that need tending to. I'm in Ft Myers...I'll drive 'em, but really don't want to ship them.

Try McCune Radio-Aire on Powerline and McNab I think... Also www.wolfradio.com .in Ft.Laud. If your Marantz is like the one I just cooked (SR-2000) they only last 40 or 50 Years !! JB

EPR Electronics

I have had nothing but good experience repairing my audio stuff with these guys.

I have had two pieces repaired with them to good effect. I can highly recommend their services.:thmbsp:

BTW, I am in no way affiliated with EPR.

shops plugging themselves on repair threads somehow doesnt seem right...

No and its strictly against our rules. We have sponsors who support this site and its not fair to them.

Its one thing when members want to discuss repair facilities but another when a repair facility is merely here to drum up business. That screams one thing to us. They want our dollars but are not willing to support this forum or members..

oh ok. I am just trying to find a local or at least in state facility. I read here on some threads some shipping horror stories and thought it would be safer to drive it myself.

I completely understand. Sorry if my comments came off as directed at you. They were meant for the company that came here only to drum up business and not participate in this forum for any reason other then to generate sales for themselves.
