Large fisher speakers go cheap and don’t sound bad see them. Slit of times in the $75-100 range on Craigslist not in the same league as klipsch or Hpm or cvs but are bargain for the price !
 
Well it looks like they want $400 for the KG 4.5’s & a set of KG 1.5’s this seems like a pretty decent deal if they’re in good shape.
 
I second the suggestion for a set of 901's (with the EQ) hung from the ceiling. They will fill the space with music easily and they take up no valuable floor space. You should be able to get a set, with the EQ and rough cabinets for about $400, max.

I had KG5.5 which adds another 10" woofer to the 4.5 and increases cabinet size. Very fun speakers. The mid range is a little weak (they sound boosted in the highs and lows ..like a smiley face EQ setting), but two 10" woofers per cabinet made some banging and bumping low end. Not sure what happens when you take one 10" woofer away...less bass, presumably. Also, be aware these cabinets are notorious for rattling/buzzing due to lack of internal bracing and I think I read a bad batch of glue from the factory during their production run. I suppose that price isn't too bad since you're getting the 1.5's as well, but they're nothing to write home about so unless you really want a 4-speaker set up, they're just adding to the cost of a set of speakers the seller is asking top dollar for anyway. KG4.5's are a $250-300 set of speakers in mint condition and no way 1.5's are worth over $100.
The Paradigms I mentioned earlier in the thread are a better deal and better sounding speaker, IMO. Best thing you can do is go out and listen to some of these speakers and figure out their different sonic characteristics to decide what YOU like. Nobody here, including me, can answer that question for you.

and my favorite (probably gone by now) Totem Sttaf
 
In your situation CL is your friend, many good options in the Denver CL.

Paradigm 7se's for $100..

Ohm E's for $200

There is a Denon mini stack with Mission speakers for $100......compete garage system, save your Kenwood for something else.

There are also a couple pair of smaller Polk's for under $100
 
Garage speakers? I'd go with some old, refoamed Marantz Imperial 7s with, for effect, lots of dust in the crumbling foam grills. You can crank some old Savoy Brown with the stoners while everyone else is sipping wine inside at the party.

That’s what I use. A pair of ratty Fisher 3-ways with 12” white coned woofers. Sounds just dandy for the garage.
