Vintage Hi Fi Audio? (Cabinets and Doo Dads)

Last month I ordered a WC-22 for my 2238 from VintageHiFiAudio.com which I just recapped and was wondering if the owner (probably also the worker) is dead or if any of you have had the worst customer service in history like I have had?
I have contacted him three times since purchasing and he has not responded to any of them. First I asked if he included longer screws for the feet, next I asked if I kept the metal cabinet on with the wood one (seems to me it would be better shielding) - last I asked at 4.5 weeks since I ordered the cabinet if it would be here for Christmas... crickets. The guy has had my money for over a month and will not tell me anything about it.
I will watch for replies and post if I ever hear from the guy, I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, he could have been hit by a bus or have brain cancer, but if he just hates his customers I will let you know if I ever get my cabinet.

I ordered one of their cabinets through ebay a few months back but sent it back. Had scratches on it, didn't fit correctly, and I'm pretty sure it was the wrong wood type. This was surprising to me because they get rave reviews on here. I will say they communicated quickly with me and were good about the return.

If you eventually get it I'd keep the steel cover on and insert it with the cabinet upside down so your bottom screw heads don't scrape/gouge as you slide it in.

Think I’ve ordered two Marantz cabinets from this vendor. Don’t recall there being any issues but I had no reason to contact him after placing the order.

Well, I got an email with tracking, I will let you know how the cabinet looks.
Megahurts, thanks for the advice on the metal cabinet... I figured at least the bottom was left on as my screws were full of particle board
:)

I think he would not reply as I asked to finish it myself figuring he would offer a discount- no reply so I asked for a discount as I usually put on 3 coats of tung oil then a coat of poly. No reply.
He probably sprays on the finish and however it comes out is how he ships, scratches and all.

The cabinet arrived and all of the veneer lines up but it had a very dull sheen, no life at all. I put on a coat of tung oil and then a thin coat of poly.
The veneer sort of buckled, it is wavy so the veneer must be paper thin.

What is the substrate under the veneer? Was everything flat/smooth before you coated it?
Also curious on the type of veneer used - adhesive backed, paper backed, raw and adhesive used.
FWIW, I created a thread a while back on making WC-22 inspired cabinets (easier/faster top than a full replica)

I bought one of his cabinets for my 2275 in 2020... it was excellent in fit and finish, made of 7 layer plywood with African Padauk veneer.

I've worked that T&P combo, and timing is critical for successful application.

The Tung has to be of pure source, and the drying/oxidation period can take weeks, esp if a multi application of oil was done, due the dryness of the veneer.

Then after the Tung has cured, a very light sanding with fine grade sandpaper gives the added ability of the two coverings to properly bond.

Many have rushed the combination process and ended up with a mess!
