Vintage Magnavox identification help

Firstly I apologize if this isn’t the correct thread. I just aquired a vintage magnavox EC3086 BK01 stereo and magnavox MX3086 AK01 floor speakers for 5 dollars. By trade I’m a carpenter and I am tossing around the idea of building a set of speakers for it kitting everything out separately. The problem stopping me is I cannot find ANY information anywhere about the wattage the amp put out, or the ohms of the speakers. The only thing I can find is the power consumption rating on the back of the stereo unit, 120v @60hz and 35 watts. Is there anyone familiar with these? I know it’s not high end by any means which doesn’t really bother me.

I'm going to assume this is an all-in-one system (known back in the day as a "compact system"). Typical power output for them was 5-10 watts/channel. Speakers are most likely 8Ω. Don't be discouraged by this, though; depending on the sensitivity of the speakers and the size of the room, you can get a decent amount of volume with this amount of power (as long as you know your limitations).

Are you planning on building new cabinets for the existing speakers, or starting from scratch with a completely new design? The latter is a hobby for many AK'ers, but it's definitely not the most economical way to go. Just the cost of new drivers will almost always exceed the price of purchasing a good used pair of working speakers.

ETA: posting pictures of what you've got might be of some assistance. A brief web search didn't turn up anything with that model number.
 
Found this on a ebay australia. It's not a high quality system; you may want to consider whether it's worth investing any money and time.

I will post some pics later. I was planning on doing a completely new design, using Dayton woofers and goldwood tweeters, crossover, port tube, and rockwool for sound deadening. Parts total for both would be around 150
 
The worst that might happen is that you decide the Magnavox system doesn't provide enough power and you have a nice set of speakers to use somewhere else and the compact system for another room.

Yeah, I figured it wasn’t high end. I only paid 17 usd for the stereo, original speakers, and a cd player. The original speakers aren’t terrible sounding but they are starting to get a little distortion on the high end and there is no getting the enclosure apart without destroying it. I figured worst case scenario I would still have a new pair of speakers if I built and I would get the enjoyment out of a new project to tinker with
 
Here are some pictures of the unit and one of the speakers. It is a surround sound system so if I’m understanding right I should have 4 channels

It's likely not a true surround system since I don't see any surround controls. It's also possible that the distortion you are hearing is due to the built-in amplifier rather than the speakers. My point is that if you're willing to invest money into a new set of speakers, it might be worthwhile to invest a little more into a decent entry-level receiver.

It’s very possible the outputs are causing my distortion as well as there is quite a bit of oxidation on them. I will know more once I get a few parts in for my Sony cabinet speakers I have. This is more or less just a project for me to tinker with than to ever get a super hi fi setup. I kinda have a lifelong hobby of making things work that people don’t typically do. Guess that’s the adhd in me lol. Eventually in a few years when I get a bigger place I may look for something more high end but for now it’s more than sufficient
 
Not trying to be a jerk but If you're really set on tinkering and spending 150 you could do a whole lot better then putting that money into those cabinets. Honestly you're just wasting your money

I’m not putting any money into those cabinets. They still work decent and if I would try to take them apart they would be completely destroyed. I’m talking about building totally new units from scratch as I said in the original post
