Vintage Pioneer elite series dv ax10 universal cd/dvd player

I have been thinking about picking up a vintage elite pioneer dv ax10 universal cd dvd player, is it worth paying 1000 dollars for a 15 year old unit?What new players are out now for $1000 that can/ would compare to the build and components quality of the AX10 elite player?

Why not buy a cheaper good player with a digital out so you can connect an up to date dac. I wouldn't spend big dollars on an older unit just to listen to an outdated dac. The dac in that pioneer has surely been surpassed by most stand alone dacs on the market today.
I did what you are thinking about when I first got into hi-end audio. I bought an expensive cdp. Now after about ten years, the unit is used as a transport only. The built in dac has been surpassed by much more affordable stand alones.

I know it isnt Blu Ray capable, But
What new units if any are there that are just as good as the AX10 as a cd analog stereo and universal format disc player , is there and was there a next generation player with new dac technology Blu Ray that compares to the build of the AX10 ?

I'm not familiar with that unit. One thing to remember is: can you still get the laser when it finally dies? If not. suddenly you have a very well built doorstop.
