Vintage Transistor Substitution Help

Hi,

Need help with a problem fixing vintage units.

Attempting to source replacement BJT transistors for a couple Pioneer pieces. Running into stumbling blocks and am wondering, first, if there is a quality information source for substitutions? I've spent a couple of hours looking and am finally climbing out of the rabbit hole. Can't decide which suppliers to believe.

Secondly, what are the trusted sources for parts. Understand Digi-key and Mouser are good for most parts so am wondering if there are go-to sources for other harder to find items?

In particular - the 2SA1100 (2SA733A), & the 2SK34(2SK30A)
Thanks.

I'm curious about what caused these transistors to fail. And what can be done to keep it from happening again?

Thanks!

2SA733A is a general small signal transistor. I always use 2SA970 in its place. I've never come across a 2SA1100 but same thing.

I've never had a 2SK30 fail but if it does, BF245A is a fine replacement. Check pinout though. For both types there are many many many replacements. Any transistor with same ballpark parameters will work as replacement. Always check pinout.

Hi,
Thanks for the information. Appreciate your help.

None of the devices appear to be available. onsemi did produce them but are currently shown as obsolete (Mouser and Digi-key) and no suggestions for replacements. The onsemi site does list them but does not have direct subs.

Further investigation show one source: Anyone know about this source

Thanks.
