Vinyl sales increase makes Drudge Report

I think it's not just "the younger generation's obsession with nostalgia and retro goods". I'm sure a lot of the iPad set sees everyone having x-hundred of songs to carry around, streaming Wi-Fi, etc. and they think, "meh, this is too mainstream and boring now". So after a lot of people buy TT's and records and that starts to feel ho-hum, they'll move on to the next cool thing. Maybe it'll be R-to-R, or back to cassettes, or a chip implant where all you have to do is think of the track and artist you want to hear...

Nah, never owned an iPad/iPhone etc, though I'm in that age bracket (35). Can't be bothered with styles/fashion etc, I do my own thing.

I think what I love most about vinyls is the ritual you go through to put one on. Makes for a very relaxing listening experience. Whenever I have guests however I simply using the JRiver player on my media centre. Don't want to be changing records whilst I have company. The vinyls are for me and me alone ;)

Sure but the ritual was all part of it too. When you'd have guests or a party, everyone had a minute or two before the next record went on, where people might talk about the one you just played or you'd say, "you guys wanna hear Side 2?" and someone would say, "yeah" or "not that one, let's hear the X or Y album now!" Seemed like people were more into the music instead of it just being in the background.
