Vinyl Storage - what do you use?

Very nice, dougmac. I really need to get a dedicated table for my 78's. By the way, if you are Netflix member be sure to order "Desperate Man Blues." Its the ultimate documentary on the ultimate 78 collector.

I use the Ikea Expedit as well. Stable and the LP's fit perfectly. Also you can add on as they get full. Sorry for the sideways picture

Steve, you need more vinyl to fill that rack up! You should come down and pick through my duplicates and then go buy another rack......

I really need to get one of those expedit shelves. I have 400 or so, most are in melon crates from the 70s! Similost- I know UK & I Advanced Masked (love that record!), but what is the LP leaning against the cardboard box- it looks familiar..

I've got enough to completely fill this one up and then some, but your tempting me with the idea. I figure I'll need to get another rack soon enough though.

I really like the 4x2 Ikea Expedit shelving unit. Looked on the website and couldn't find one. Is that the type of unit where they won't have it online but more than likely have it in the store? are there any other places online to fine this particular model?

Thanks

Thanks for the recommendation for "Desperate Man Blues". I rented it a couple of months ago. Joe is a real character. I have a CD from him.

You guys rock! Thanks for posting so many awesome photos!

For now, and for many reasons, I think the expedit 2X4 is for me. Once I move into a house and have more space and get all new furniture then I'll get one of the fancier more expensive ones...hell, even the Expedit looks fancier than it's relatively inexpensive pirce!

Thanks everyone!

I also use the Expedit but have one of these on top:

Many variations to chose from.

I use those same things, I have 6 of the large divided cubes. I have them side by side 3 high. I like how there built to be stacked, and they turn out to be pretty damn stable.

There a little pricey, but the ability to be expandable really sealed the deal. I got mine through www.target.com, but there the same units. I got mine all in black.

My storage solution

Here's my setup. Shows several variations of the Expedit system. Two 4x2s and one 5x1. Pardon the mess.

Overall, I think the Expedits are great. I wouldn't mind a rounded edge on the bottom of the shelf to reduce sleeve wear, but for $80 or so, it really can't be beat. Less if you buy them used, which is pretty easy.

One variation I'd like to see would be to have two vertical 4x2s around a horizontal one, with two cubes empty on the top left and right for speakers. I had suggested this setup to someone a while back, but the thread died.

Yea they are well made. I have contemplated many variations, including using single cubes as speaker stands. Hold the speakers and have more storage for my ever-increasing LP population. Like many of my schemes, it does not come to fruitition, yet is never rejected.:scratch2:
