So I stomped my feet on the floor next to it, no feedback skipping etc. A guy who was in the store when I bought mine also recently got his, he accidentally "punched" the side of it when moving some equipment and it didnt skip either. Mass loading must be working well This thing is a beast at 55lbs. Anybody have any experiences with Cardas cartridges? My local retailer has a myrtle heart with a few hours, its based on the benz ruby. Im considering it or perhaps the new lyra due out shortly.

Those could be very different sounding cartridges. Wood body cartridges tend to have a warmer sound. Lyra cartridges are said to be very neutral, perhaps a bit lean, and very detailed. I'd go with the Lyra, but that's just my taste.

I'm not very knowledgeable about cartridges, I can audition the cardas. I'm curious if the 1500$ Lyra coming out can hang with a 3500$ cardas that I can get for about 2k

Stacked, if you're looking for a cartridge in that price range, I'd seriously consider the Shelter 501 MkII for $995 if I were you. I think it might help flesh out and warm up the VPI in just the right way.

Congratulations on the new turntable! I'm interested in what cartridge you land on, and your thoughts when you do, as I'm in the market for a cart for mine as well. The Dynavector 10x5 I'm using was always intended to be a placeholder (though it's holding it's place very well) for a LOMC down the road.

I just purchased a Cardas Myrtle Heart cartridge from Ne Plus Ultra, the always gracious Casey came and set it up, and is giving me the option to switch to the new Lyra when it comes out. During my preliminary listening I would say that I am very happy with this combination thus far, and probably won't take him up on the offer. It mates very well with my system thus far, and I got a good deal on it. It retails for about 3500 and I paid 2000 for it with low hours. Also am getting a chance to audition the Audio Physic Tempo's in my home, and they seem very nice thus far!

Santa brought our house a VPI Classic I'm using it temporarily with a Sumiko Bluepoint cartridge, and am very impressed with it. The speed accuracy is dead on perfect when we tested it. Now time to order a dust cover and pick out a cartridge.

I've been very pleased with the Benz Micro Glider SL cartridge ($1,000).
