I figured that if Wendell, head of MP's Marketing was willing to recommend only high-power it is because it is his desire to make Magnepan speakers sound REALLY GOOD, not just make sounds and high power is one of the keys to unlocking the LRSs' potential.

I keep going back to what my son told me a few years ago when I still had my Acoustat 1+1s and was lamenting that they only sound really good to one listener right in the sweet spot: "they're the best set of headphones you'll ever own". Such is the nature of highly beamy sound with an equal and opposing back-wave.

Speakers and amplifiers are like computer software and hardware: As power keeps getting cheaper, the speaker manufacturers keep producing less and less efficient speakers. Sure you can make a lot of low bass with an array of miniature woofers (a-la Bose 901), but you'll pay for it in power.
 
Strangely, I have been listening to MP 1.7i speakers at in a 15' by 20' foot room with an MC2505 for about two years now. I have measured music bouncing around in the low 90 dBs on my SPL meter although I usually listen at lower levels. Mostly Jazz and Classical. Seems just fine and never seems strained. But they ain't going to go up to the high 90s to 100 dB SPL even with a bigger amp. So depending on how OP uses his LRS (how loud he wants it and how big the room is) he might want to try the LRS with the 2105 first before chucking it. If OP wants loud rock and roll, he should stick with the Zu audio speakers.
 
@62caddy @SaturationPt @TSmith8605 thanks for the response. No I’m not set on the Maggie’s I would just like to hear what the sound like. Never heard them. I don’t listen to jazz or even classical, have tons of cds of classical, and when I do it’s either Wagner or Beethoven. For reference her is a pic of my playlist I was listening to today, for reference.

Those are fun songs. The little LRS maybe won't be the most rewarding Magnepan for much of that kind of music, you'd want a sub.

I ran my old MG-III for a while with my 7300 - I forget if I ever hooked them to the 2105 - and that was a good time even for music like that. But the MG-III (23" x 72") are a lot bigger than the LRS (14.5" x 48"). (Those are the overall sizes, not the mylar panel sizes I think, but the size difference should be proportional.)

Seems like a lot of weight on a LP rack. Wouldn't leave me feeling all that comfortable. Just saying.
 
Finally got the JBL's back from being refinished. My dad bought these while he was in the army stationed in Germany in 1971. Still have the original receipt. He did not listen to them any longer so he told me to have them. Hopefully adding them to the system next week.
