I live in Illinois about 36 miles east of downtown St. Louis. I was wondering if there is any hi-fi clubs or something similar in the metro area? I would like to meet like minded people for sharing ideas etc.
Maaan you just missed the St. Louis Cabin Fever gathering of the Gateway Audio Society. Keep your eyes on the Events and Happenings forum for the next gathering.
We had 27 people at the Cabin Fever. Looks like at least five people for the record convention Sunday, hitting Sweetie Pies' for lunch after the convention. Don's house on the 24th for a high tech and Nelson Pass DIYer centered get together. Ryan will be holding a demo session for his wonderful Vapor Sound speakers in March as well.

I am the guy that bought that "very used" stock Halfer DH-101 from you.
You will be happy to know that I converted the DH-101 into a Musical Concepts PasPro 1 tube preamp. John at Musical Concepts said I have the first Halfer to get this preamp. He was great to work with.
Check it out, the DH -101 in the picture is the same one I got from you.
I opted for an external power supply which only makes it better. It comes with some nice Russian 6H23N tubes and right now I am experimenting with rolling 6922's and 7308's.
The sound is amazing. As usual, John's Phono stage is sweet. This preamp moves my audio experience several rungs up the ladder.
We just hosted a series of eight get togethers with Bamberg Audio, and we have another three scheduled for April, plus two speaker tours from Vapor Sound and SAS Audio. Gateway Audio Society in St. Louis. http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?board=70.0
It would be good if you registered and introduced yourself...
Well, there is an audio based medical mission trip fundraiser at MgGurks on Sunday the 14th. Kent is having a gathering at his house on Saturday and Sunday, the 20th and 21st. And Music for Pleasure is having a showing on Tuesday the 23rd. And there are two Hamfest events next month, a sale at Lewis and Clark College and the ARCH picnic.
There is a lot going on around St. Louis, but you need to make the effort to attend. Starting and participating in a thread like this, and then disappearing, is counterproductive if you want a level of involvement.
