MAC attack
Lol.. None of you answered my questions as you avoided them altogether by attacking me personally which which is unacceptable. I did research the Clarion piece however the info was from roger russell's website which was not updated. Listening to you guys bitch and squeal because I pointed out fact which none of you have ANSWERED and instead continue to utilize smoke and mirrors and insults to skirt my question. Regarding the Mac's server which was developed, etc by Escient (that happens to be owned by DM Holdings as well), you actually answered one of my questions. Thank you. The Escient server (in Mac garb) is three times the price of the similar escient model which was helpful. Thank you. Why should I buy the exorbatant MAC version when I can have the same Escient server at lower cost? Purchasing the MAC version because it is nicer looking on the outside is not a reason to buy a product. We are here for the music, right? It is highway robbery.
Regarding the 7005, the best answer from the peanut gallery was that the 7005 cd player is disqualified because it was built in 87-88. Brilliant. More smoke and mirrors without substance or objectivity. The 7005 is almost identical to the Magnovox/Phillips players of the mid-late 80's which were never considered "high-end." In fact the similar Magnovox player of same vintage (which has the ALMOST identical chipset, transport and utilizes the same read/out display to the 7005 minus the hulking metal MAC box that hides a mass market unit. Mod Squad attempted to pull off their "modded" magnovox junk boxes and ended up pissing off thousands of consumers beacause their mods were as musical as adding a DBX eq to a system.
My cousin had the identical Magnovox unit that he purchased in late 1988 from Service Merchandise in South Florida for under $400 (along with a cheap technics sr-330 receiver for $250). It is what it is. It can't be disputed. This is what bothers me. Macintosh repackaged the exact massmarket Magnovox gear (their cd players of recent and more current vintage is just ONE example), and encase it in a large, heavy box , and have the Chutzpah to turn around and sell it for 10 times the price.
I also remember listening to my friends MAC music bank changer with the fancy metal casing and chassis. At that time I had a Nak MB? music bank changer (MB 8 I believe). I had my friend audition both pieces together. The Nak changed discs with the same speed, and sounded identical to the MAC. I paid $680 for the Nak in late 1995. My friend (to his dismay) could not distinguish the two sonically or mechanically. He was angry (livid was more like it) as he spent over $1800 for the MAC. The only difference was that he forked over 1k for the "mcintosh" label in blue lights and a metal case. Why does MAC stoop to such tactics? It is similar to the days when JC penny sold receivers in the late 70's. The receivers were built by Pioneer and were identical minus the fancy MCS engraving, lights, and casing but one paid a premium for the identical unit. Pioneer took a bath on that one.
If you believe that I am full of bologna than please put me in my place and call me a loud nouth, full of crap fool. HOWEVER no one has been able to step up and cite real meaty, objective examples that prove me wrong regarding MAC's heavy metal box tactics per their cd players, dvd, and theatre processors (87+).
If I am disgraced that I will gladly suck in the pride, and take my lashings... I have no problem being framed as an ignorant, crap talking fool and will gladly admit that I am wrong and will personally apologize to the group for wasting your time. However, respond with objective, examples to back your flame.
BTW- I believe that BAT builds their own gear.
Love you all,
Sam
