Webcor Console

The rack for cocktail glasses is something you don't often in a console. :D Kinda unique.

A volume control works by the signal from the preamp coming in one end terminal of the control and the other end terminal grounded. The center or wiper terminal outputs to the output amp.

As the wiper is moved, by rotating the knob over a resistance element between the two end terminals, it lets more or less signal to the output amp Picks the signal off the element, so to speak. It sounds like the ground terminal might have come unsoldered and is "floating" so the output amp. always gets full signal. The same thing would happen if the resistance element is broken where it connects to the ground end terminal.

As far as parts for the changer, if you give Gary, at VOM, the changer model number and parts you need, I bet he can fix you up. He is the world expert with VM changers.

I did some digging, it is indeed a BSR turntable. The Cartridge is BSR Type C1. Any ideas on where I can pick one up? Found one on Ebay for around $50 in England, with shipping it's gonna be around $80. There's gotta be a cheaper option?

There isn't for that cartridge. Reason why they're high price is the UK Dansette restoration freaks. 2 volt crystal cartridge, compliance totally a joke, and don't even think about using Stereo records on one. Repair your Zenith's VM properly and use that. That BSR is a major downgrade.
