Weird midrange panels on these RS 2.5's! What's the deal here?

If they are mounted horizontally it would seem the dispersion would be all vertical and zero horizontalo_O

You found that thread, I was going to link it myself. That’s my reference to they don’t compare. I still remember the sound, having the real deals now the neo doesn’t have the sparkle, life that the emims have. Another pair of speakers I should have kept.

Have to wonder though the way he aligned the emits, those look older like from a quantum series speaker if they don’t sound pretty darn good.

Thanks AK Aussie!

those are very cool speakers, and the fact that he 'dipoled' the emits is cool in and of itself.
OP, you totally scored, IMO.

what I don't see, is any kind of crossover. It appears this was meant to be used with an active crossover, so be careful! you'll destroy the emits if you feed them a full range signal.

Dr. Marks has been pushing his bipole EMIT design on the Infinity Yahoo group for a long time. I never understood the point, myself. Since you have to sacrifice a second EMIT for each one you convert to dipole, unless you have a bunch of EMITs with bad diaphragms, why not just mount two EMITs back to back? This way you can bring them back to normal use and you don't need to worry about possible damage when you do the mod.

A friend just scored these RS 2.5's. Is this some kind of prototype? The EMITs look unusual too. The mids look a little like a sideways version of the prototype EMIMs from the QRS, or Monsoon planars...

Does anyone know anything about these speakers?
