Wharfedale Rosedale Specs?

Mine look similar to those but are only 3 ways. One speaker was missing a 5 inch mid and the purple dome tweeter and a lower wood trim piece. Can't expect to much for free. They actually didn't sound too bad yesterday with the one speaker missing some parts. I put a tweeter in it from another Wharfedale I have and a 5 inch mid from a Sansui and they seem to sound pretty good. They'll probably stay that way til I find the right replacement parts.

Hi guys.
I know that it's way late in the scheme of things but just came across this article. I can give some information as follows:
1. In the USA there were two versions. The W70D, which had four drivers, the bass driver being a 12" unit. Then we have the W70E which did away with the upper bass driver and the 12" unit was replaced with a 15" unit but in Australia they were all called Rosedales with no separate identification.
2. The power rating is 40 watts RMS into an 8 ohm load. I have usually run them with a sweet little Marantz 1040 amplifier rated at 20 watts per channel. They are very efficient and don't need a lot of power to go loud.
3. A lot of the cabinets were manufacture in Hong Kong by "The Radio People" and then shipped all over Asia, Australia and who knows where else.
4. The 15" bass driver, while performing much better than the 12" unit, had a tendency to bottom out because of its long throw coil. I solved this problem on three sets of these drivers by removing the clamp bolts and fitting a second magnet (double magneted) which solved the problem. I still have one pair of Rosedales that have been fully restored and I will never let them go.
5. The top panel is not a veneer but a plywood panel, so if you are refinishing, remember not to sand to hard as you'll end up through to the second ply layer and as as they say in the classics, you'll be a little bit stuffed.
