Just a quick update: I put together proper wire for W-70s. They played just fine. They took a back seat to some Pioneer HPM 100s I bought for $50! 
I also picked up a pair of STR P12s for $20 that I re-foamed. They are my current mains. The sound good. They are different than the Pioneers and the Wharfedales. I'll be putting the W-70s back to work soon though!
