What does anyone know about these? I'm looking for my first real hi-fi speakers, and these are on Craig's List. I listen to a little jazz, no classical, and lots of well recorded pop and rock from all eras.

Thanks in advance.

I doubt that thes ewould be the speakers for you, if you like rock and pop....too mellow sounding.

BUT, you should go and listen to them anyways as my opinions are not always everyone else's.

I have a set and not what I'd consider as your typical rock speakers. Pop, classical and jazz would be more to their voicing. They are great as my musical tastes are classical, jazz, opera, etc. with almost no rock.

Given that, you may want to consider them depending on price and condition as they are rather heavy and local pickup presents an oppurtunity. Many times they can be had for a song (no pun intended) and as designed for lower powered system make for an excellent 2nd system if rock is your thing.

Mine, have been recapped and they are tied for my second string speakers. Matched with something in the 10 - 20 watt range and you've got a really nice system equal and better to systems that can cost far more.

I have a pair of W70E's that double as a TV stand and fronts for my HT set up. Not for rock but good for classical, very musical and transparent. Won't take a lot of power. Great furniture grade cabinets and usually can be had cheap if you don't have to pay shipping.

These guys have pretty much covered it. Very nice mellow speakers for classical / jazz. Great bang for the buck on very well designed speakers.

There's a pair that are local to me that are cheap if anyone is interested. I just can't justify picking them up as I have too many other speakers that do everything so well....to my ears.

No no no. The pair on DFW craigslist are the ones I'm talking about. You can't give away my speakers like that.:p:

Actually, while I may go listen to them, I suspect I probably won't get them, although that price is hard to argue with.

I hear they mate well with a tube amp too. I almost bought a set of W90s a while back, but got outbid at the last minute. My plans were to use them with my Magnavox amps
