What’s your latest test equipment acquisition?

Looks nice, my old Luxo just is not enough light the older I get. Could you post a supplier/ make-model so I can look into it further. Thanks

I got mine at Staples. It was on clearance – the new price is a little on the spendy side. But I’m happy with it. Good build quality and very bright.

Tv-7a/u with service life extension

I had a d/u calibrated by Dan Nelson but sold it earlier this year after building the Roetest.

This came up for a good price so I grabbed it. I think when it comes to selling tubes, providing results from the tv-7 gets you more $$ than the Roetest, even though the Roetest is far superior in every way. Ignorance is bliss I suppose

I have some goodies coming in!!

CA-4 compactron adapter for my Hickok 600A. I've got horizontal sweep tubes around every damn corner with a passel of Futterman OTLs.

And the biggie!!! Arriving tomorrow, a Tek 577 of 100% unknown provenance, history, or operating condition (or lack thereof). I plan to build an adapter so I can do curve traces on tubes. Eg Dennis Tillman's VTCT if I can find or fabricate a board.

Nice on the 577, looks like the newer type with out the lights under some of the rotary controls.
Its missing one of the dials on the vertical control.

My older unit is up and running fine and I still need other go through the other unit
that is a closer vintage to yours.

Check power supply voltages right off the bat !! Also there is a tantalum on the maim board near the
bottom right two large diodes . That one goes bad usually . Also clean all socketed chips and transistors and check all the small signal diodes in the unit. I found a few bad ones.

Good luck !!

Rohde & Schwarz UPL #3.

Some people gamble on sports, I guess I gamble on broken test equipment. This UPL has some GSM phone testing options and hasn't been calibrated since 2010 per the sticker. It is not booting, CMOS battery failed. I bet it will be fine once I replace the CMOS battery and reconfigure the bios properly with the special UPL settings. Also gambling in the sense that it may or may not have the very desirable low distortion generator... won't know til I either open it up, or get it booting and can check in the options!
