It's funny how effective Carpenter's scores are when you watch his movies, yet on their own the can feel underwhelming. He really milks a few lines of melody and signature orchestrations here, though.
And that's not meant as a negative, it's a very economic sound design that gives the film its own character. Listening to the score end to end is more interesting than enjoyable, though.

True, this is perhaps more monotonous on its own.Some of his scores stand up better isolated from the film. Quite enjoy the Halloweens & The Fog.
