What are you Listening To Right Now? - and more

So your not drawing SS yet , my medicare comes right off the top of my SS every month $202.00 , I believe part B is the same amount for everyone.

You have Tricare , I have Aflac plan G coverage that I pay another $100 a month for to cover what plans A & B don't , there are also Advantage plans but I feel plan G or N is the better way to go , oh and you must have a RX plan D or part of an Advantage plan.

It gets confusing but basically there are 2 different paths you can take to supplement plan B ;

1: A Medicare plan, like plan G , various companies sell plan G at various price points however the coverage is the same no matter what company you go through.

2: An Advantage plan , these can vary widely on many different things , the attraction is they are much cheaper up front and often include RX , Dental , and vision how ever once you need to use them is when you start paying all the hidden costs , and what Dr you can see what procedures they will cover ect.
Do they take the 220 if you are not enrolled in Medicare yet?

No I haven't filed for my SS...no need yet. Waiting to next August when I will be full retirement age. With Tricare I don't need anything but A and B. I do not have major medical issues and only go to the Dr. when I really need to. Today was my yearly. Needed my inhaler that I got when I had my lung surgery. Normal every year labs. That's all. I think they are scheduling me for a lung MRI just to check that everything is OK. I'm going to get me a cigar soon....

On my soapbox....EFFIN MEDICARE IS EFFIN USELESS!! They do not cover lab tests??? WTF do we pay for??? Paid in to Medicare since I started working...and now pay over $600 for 3 months coverage and they do not cover basic lab tests?? WTF??
I really haven’t used mine much yet.. But I do know I m getting screwed big time!!!
It’s funny I’m sitting at the dentist office now.

it took me over a month to get medicare to agree to pay before i could get my last labs. nurse that was ordering kept forgetting to check a box that they were a requirement for a prescription. as soon as that got sorted, medicare paid up.

I hear your pain, my friend @djwhy60
Paid three months of part B in MN which is as expensive as hell and then dropped it for the same reason you state.

I went down to part A only which tells you they pay nothing. Let me die and throw my rotting corpse into the ground.

Nothing more certain than death and taxes and paying into Medicare was just another exorbitant tax.

Done with rant … thank you for listening.

I'm sorry Sir....sux all the way around. I HAVE TO keep B to keep my "free" military benefit. I was told, when I enlisted, that if I retired I would have free medical care through Tricare, for the rest of my life. Guess my life ended at 65 and I didn't know it.

You can be enrolled for the free part A and not pay anything thats why you don't want to miss that window when you turn 65. I'm not sure what happens if you start drawing your SS and your not enrolled in part B , they take $202.90 for part B right from your SS check if your enrolled in part B.

I started Medicare 5 months before I retired so I had to pay 3 months up front $600 ish at the time out of my own pocket since I wasn't drawing my SS yet.
