had supposedly just returned from the tech after a good cleaning....mmmm hmmm...

there was popping in the audio when cycling the toggles but it would go away...then come back. symptoms of leaky caps allowing dc on the switches.

jvc does not like removeable bottoms.

the main filter caps are within tolerance so they stay for now. i have caps that could have been fit and a jumper made but no need atm. i got a nice pair of vishay 3 legged caps in my mouser cart that should drop in.

they use a glue that gets super crusty and when removed, it leaves the board stained but any jvc gear that i've had on the bench has not had corroded leads from the glue.

that lone cap on the fuse board, next to the resistor is a .47uf polarized electrolytic...the schematic calls for .12uf film. the pcb has a non polarized symbol for a film cap.

i got a feeling that they installed that polar cap for a reason so that's what i replaced it with.

power supply is done. line amp is done.

relay board is done

problem is gone.

i'm in no hurry to recap the filter board. it's going to be a pita so until the day comes that i need to disassemble dirty sliders or something fails, it's staying original.

Same here. The night before trash pickup scrappers drive around with truck/trailer anytime between 9p and 6a and any electronics or anything metal is gone.
If it doesn’t disappear and the county won’t take it then I post on Craigslist & FB. It’s usually gone within hours.
Nothing lasts for long around here. One time i was putting an old dishwasher to the curb and a guy pulled up for it before i even got to the street. :rflmao:
