Winter is coming

IL two weeks ago all the little animals started stockpiling for the winter
I took it as my cue

Accelerating any outside repairs or projects
Farm stand offerings are thinning out
Need to get my ancient volvo wagon ready for Zero
Need to get the snowblowers serviced (by me) and leave dry with oil in the cylinders
The store with the good veggies is giving peppers away, just cut up and froze a few gallons of them
Moving to the stove top from the grill, 6 consecutive days of cold wet weather, leaves falling
- soups and stews, goodbye NY Strips etc ......
Test firing the furnace every cold morning
Looking at the cans and frozen food, haven't seen the bottom of the freezer in a while, should probably take a dive
Inspect my -40 rated boots and clothing, snow picks inconvenient days for clearing the driveway etc
- few times, I didn't wear ski goggles on really cold days, didn't know my eyeballs could freeze, kinda weird the few times it happened. To be avoided

I went the easy route with the repair first in hopes it would solve the problem. Car has 293,000kms on it and is 13 years old. Wear and tear seems reasonable. That said carbon build up is certainly a possibility for the code it was throwing or possibly the solenoid but so far so good after a couple of days driving with the new/used actuator.
The solenoid repair looks simple as well with the carbon buildup note so much.

My brain went down a rabbit hole on this with having stepper/servo motor experience. Every piece of machinery and programming is different. What happens when it can't find a "home" position due to an obstruction? Does it persistently bounce around or attempt to force itself in position? Who knows?

Wishing you the best of luck. If it fails again, then possibly a path to a deeper dive.
