Not trying to rant, really not, but there are times when I read stuff on audio sites that just make me wonder about people.... Somehow the internet makes folks blatant liars, or they have an IQ of a box of rocks. Just perplexes me to have someone make statements towards a topic without having actual experience. Blows my mind really, then when you ask "have you ever actually seen or experienced it in person or for yourself" its crickets..... It makes trying to get an honest opinion next to impossible. Im just happy this was not on AK and on a lesser (in every way possible way) site.
So some of you know I am a huge fan of Auvio Speaker Wire. Its a higher end brand from RatShack when they were open. I know the wire argument has been on-going since the start of Audio, my fight is not with SQ or what is better, I just personally like the brand. Its a personal preference.
I will recommend it to folks if they are asking for cable suggestions, I also build and gift folks sets of cables often as its fun for me to build sets of cables while I listen to music on the weekends. I just truly enjoy it. I don't push it on folks or try to argue what is better. A number of AK members have and use my cables. Never have I said they will sound better, I just leave that up to the end user.
Anyway, while doing some research on another Audio site, someone had done a full write up on speaker wire resistance and thickness and quality. They did some proper measurements on low resistance and wire wind and a few others. I noticed that Auvio basically out preformed a lot of the other brands. The post had 36 pages of talking/argument....
I decided to join the site, and share my experience with the wire. I stated that I had a bunch of it as I collected it and posted a few pictures of it, and some of my wire builds. I did not say anything about SQ or anything, I simply said I agree and have a ton if it as i have been collecting it for almost 20 years now.
One member decided I was wrong, instantly started in on me saying "its not the best", and all "12awg is the same", So my question to him was this.
"Have you ever personally tried it, have you ever personally held it in your hands and actually seed the quality? If you have not, you lack experience"
He did not like that, I asked where I said it sounded better? Again Crickets. Left it alone and moved on... He did not like that and went on a rant about how coat hangers were the same and blah blah blah.... I ended up not going back to that site to post anymore as it seemed to be a moronic place to hang out.
I just never understand folks who post about a topic with ZERO experience.
So as I was searching for more of the wire online I found a AK post back from 2015, where a member is asking if anyone has used it or know if its better quality than Monster... Fair question...
3 pages of BS, Not one person could answer the question and was filled with I'd go with Different brand, or use AQ, or SQ argument. Not one person could give an answer showing that they have experienced both and what they found worked better for them.
Why do we do that? Why do folks comment on stuff they lack experience on? Cracking a joke is one thing, or giving ones opinion is fine, but if you lack experience in a topic why make **** up? It could be any topic not just wire, I have read a number of posts from members making claims about stuff when they have no idea what they are talking about.
Is this only an Audio thing or do folks do this in other sites? I am not involved in any other web site that is social media like AK, No face book or my space or any of that. AK is as social as I get.
Its like when I made that Mono thread, many users I had to ask if they ever ran a dedicated mono rig, after they made random statements about it. If you dont know its not bad, that is the fun part of learning, but if you dont know something just say IDK. 3 whole pages of BS and I bet not one of them have ever even seen it in person to even know what the OP was asking.

Right, and definitely not trying to start a wire argument lol my point was to say why do folks become experts on something when they lack experience. Just something I’ve noticed while being on the internet. I’m not claiming to be an expert by any means, it’s half the reason why I’m asking a question or making a post. But when you get folks who you outright ask “have you actually experienced” whatever the talking point is and they don’t answer kinda makes one just wonder about people lol
Yeah, I don't know why some folks have this need to come across as "Joe Expert" to the nth degree. Even though they may not know what they are talking about. And have to express it confrontationally, whether it's true or not.
It's ironic that many of these folks are so critical of AI spewing fiction... but... if you know what I mean.
It's difficult when egos and emotions get involved in the threads. The whole thing becomes toxic and futile. Sometimes it's best for one's mental health to stop, step back, and look at the big picture. Even surrender and walk away. It's just not worth arguing with a brick wall.

Well I appreciate it, Im no know it all either, it’s why I’m on AK so much lol always looking to learn more. Just cracks me up at times is all. Everyone has an opinion but not everyone has experience. I think I’m just getting old and my fuse is just shorter lol

That said; I’ve not used AI for anything, not sure I know how to use it. But I did see a post about using AI for tube amp circuits. That did spark my interest.
Not sure how that will work but have wondered if AI can find fixes or improvements for specific amps. Like can you show AI a schematic and say make this better?
