What are your "unexpectedly good" loudspeaker-amplifier combos?

A Carver 6250 powering a pair of Grundig Box 1600b speakers...

And a Yamaha R-1000 powering a pair of Braun L810s. The R-1000 really settles down the bass hump in these speakers, very nice midrange & treble...

Couldn't drive a custom pair of planar/ribbons to excessively loud volumes, without them breaking up at certain frequencies and sound waves, but it has been much improved by adding a Velodyne subwoofer (CHT-10) with crossover. Only giving the planars a signal above 80Hz has really opened them up.
They are surprisingly well-powered by a Conn organ 7868 push pull amp, maybe 23 watts per channel. Not much difference, though, between the tube amp and a solid state Nikko Alpha II powering them (120 wpc).

I have a McIntosh Mc152 power amp and a McIntosh Mx113 preamp and just got a good deal on a pair of wharfdale diamonds 240 to replace Vienna Acoustic Bach which I enjoyed a lot but lacked some low end but at first the Wharfdales sounded terrible almost sent them back but once broken in I'm amazed at how they sound and how they bring out the best of the rest of my set up also I have a Grace digital wifi receiver and a 1m11 bluetooth receiver .These speakers made my set up complete

McIntosh MC2105/AR3 & McIntosh MC2250/AR3a. Speaker stacked, both amps being driven by McIntosh C34V with McIntosh CR7 remote controlling overall volume.

Big sound.

After trying Bryston, Krell, Adcom and others, my uncle’s using a Kenwood M1 to drive his Vandersteen Quatros!
Originally I just dropped it in his system while he waited for another amp, and he LOVED IT! I’ve suggested others to try, but he says he’s good... though he hides it behind the TV.

My Sansui QRX-6500 synthesizing and driving my Quad speakers, which are the rare Danish made Infinity Kappa 200's.
I went through a dozen pairs of speakers before I found these, which are an excellent mate for my Green Mountain Audio Imagos.IMG_0017.JPG Kappa 200.png Imagos.png

An Oldchen El34b tube amp driving a pair of Thiel 2 2. The combination manages to surprise every day with how well they sound together. Especially so after a 100 hours of burn on the stock Psvane tube.

The original Vienna Acoustic Bach is a wonder speaker and been running on my living room. I cant see myself parting with her.
