I just posted this "gift" in the wrong thread, then searched for a "What were you GIFTED" thread and came up empty.

Soooooo, post up the latest Audio Related item someone "gifted" you.

I'll start.

I went over to some friends house tonight to play some cards. Ended up listening to some tunes also (Leon Russell, The Meters, and Dr. John, I think it was) and was gifted these 3 Steely Dan albums.

Funny, because a couple of months ago I had pre-ordered the Can't Buy A Thrill re-release that's due it in a couple of days.

Scratch that order!!

Around 5 yrs. ago my self employed vehicle restoration and body shop friend who likes to have music playing in the background, but is not into Hi-Fi, who lives nearby was gifted various pieces of Hi-Fi equipment from one of his well to do customers.

I happen to stop by to have a beer with him, and he showed me the equipment, and one of the pieces of gear was a Mc MA 6100 integrated amp, in excellent visual condition..
I became interested in the Mc. and asked him if he was interested in selling it to me, since he already had gear he was using to provide shop music and a older laptop that I music purposed setup for him that I had filled up with ripped music of all of his CDs and some selected of mine several yrs. earlier..

Anyway he said that he didn`t wish to sell it to me when I offered to purchase it from him, but said why don`t I just give it to you, as he said I have no use for it, even though he knew that Mc. audio gear was good equipment, and he could sell it for good money, but for all the electronic assistance that I had been providing for him for yrs. prior he would rather have me put the Mc. integrated to good use somewhere in my house !
He told me was always impressed with my good clear sounding music that was always playing in my home when he dropped by over the yrs. since we were introduced over 12 yrs. ago. and I would have/fine a better use for it than he would.

Only 2 mildly leaking output transistors needed to be replaced after getting it on the bench for full factory spec. check out.

Ran it for two days (full 48 hrs.) on my bench and checked the performance specs. again, still good, so decided to exchange the separates based work shop stereo system with the Mc. and let it play my WAV. ripped music all day, and it hasn`t been turned off since installation, with no burps/farts or any issues, all the while sounding better then the 10 yr. old to me separates ( Mc. C-32 pre/Crown D-150 amp) that it replaced.

Very unexpected, nice and appreciated audio equipment daily in use gift, indeed !

My friend passed along a pair of AR 2ax speakers that needed work but they've been playing in my garage for the last 10 years or so and sound great.
 
Lately three Crown CDi 1000 power amps, and a DBX pro audio compander.
Oh, also a pair of 80's or 90's Technics floor standing speakers with 12" woofers a neighbor gave me I'm using in my garage.

More that I'd like to admit! A good friend of mine came into some money and has kind of been going nuts buying musical gear (he's a guitar player) and home audio stuff. Several things that he's upgraded, he's given to me... and I typically pay it forward by giving away my old gear to another friend, who's very appreciative. Stuff that I've gotten from that one friend include: an SVS 12" sealed port subwoofer (can't remember the model, but it's a contemporary one that doesn't have the DSP features - which is actually fine with me), a Yamaha PF800 turtable (with a Denon DL110 cart) and a pair of Sennheiser HD600 phones (which unfortunately need some parts that I seem to be unable to track down, so these things might be DOA)...
 
A 12-watt mono Knight-Kit from 1962 that an uncle gave me in 1966 - 6BQ5 magic & all that, even with its small transformer. Wasn't bad for my 2nd (mono) system at the time. Heathkit's 25 watt mono occupied "First Seat" position then - 7951 magic & whatever that entailed with its large trannies.
 
I can't even remember or list everything that Tom Clone gave me as he took my advice and started downsizing. I wish I had taken my advice but whatever.

When he moved from the east coast to the northwest he sold me his car which I flipped and give me a box of Orion, PPI and other speakers, crossovers and such, the cd changer and more he was going to put into that car.

That was just his move. Then he got concerned about where life is going a few years later and wanted to divest himself of most worldly goods that would not fit in his FJ. He sold off a lot of stereo gear. Remember Tom bought a turntable from me in 2010 and 3500 days later (both living here and later in Seattle) he had amassed a collection of 4500 records, more than one a day. Bought while the prices at Shady Dog in Berwyn were reasonable and a good customer like Tom got some for free, some discounted then a 10% discount when he went on Saturday and picked up 5-15 records regularly. Expect the same in Seattle. He did not lose any money on those records including the ones he bought that were a couple hundred in 2012 and a good bit more when he lightened his load.

His rig was getting pretty big but it is almost all gone now. I missed the ARC SP-3A-1 that I posted about rebuilding here on ak, sold too cheap on the bay, lucky buyer. If we had talked, I would have sold my SP-3A and gotten the A-1. Oh well, I didn't lose out.

He sent me about 800 CDs most in file folder foot lockers (2) holding 300 each and about 100 in jewel cases.
He has sent me over the years a couple dozen albums. I pulled them out recently so I could listen to them again.
He sent me the leftovers of his turntable obsession. I received 3½ Magnepan tonearms, 3 broken LOMC cartridges, 3 working LOMC (Ortofon and Dynavector). The half tonearm has a broken headshell mount which could be overcome in a number of ways. Just waiting for a need and inspiration to repair it.
And let's not forget the Millett Hybrid Headphone Amplifier that I have here. Sent for some work and doesn't want it back, yet.
But this would be the latest: He sent me the remains of his MD foray. I had previously been given a couple Sony MD/CD machines then he sent me a worn-out MD Walkman, a working MD walkman and just a couple weeks ago, three more with optional external battery packs and a couple wall warts and of course, a pile of blanks.

I appreciate all that he has gifted me, it is an amazing amount and the software is some new to me music to enjoy, some playing now.

But I still wish I was the one that could fit my belongings in a big suv.

Also... as I didn't think to mention it, a lot of music both on LP and CD, though mostly CD, particularly lately when everyone seems to be thinning out their collections. I'm one of those odd folks who still hordes CDs, just as I do LPs. I have pretty broad tasters and so I'm up for checking out a pretty brad range of music, though if I really think that I'm likely never going to get around to listening to something, then I try to pass it on rather than bothering to file it into a collection that's quickly become larger than I have space for. I already have too many CDs and records that I thought that I might listen to and then never do to be acquiring anything that I don't think that I'll put on when I get the thing...

I was gifted a Discwasher stylus cleaning brush by a friend of my wife’s. I saw it in her basement and asked why it was there. She didn’t know what it was, so when I told her, she told me to put it in my pocket.
 
@vinyldavid I don't know if you can list all the great gear you have received. Starting in this hobby when gear was being thrown away and being young made folks happy to set you up. It has worked out great for you and your continued enjoyment of the hobby should make those that gave you gear happy.
